I agree. There's no way I'm watching this movie (for the first time at least) on anything other than a huge ass screen with dolby surround. However, for guys like me who will download the bootlegs just so they can get audio soundbites, please go easy! My computers suffer as it is without any more "digital justice."
Guys, there's a difference between a Premiere and a Release Date. Japan's release date for ROTF is June 20. It's the World Premiere, not the release date in Japan. The 2007 movie had its world premiere in South Korea and Australia on June 11 and June 12, respectively. That would be meaningless for a Japanese premiere Japan has its own Peter Cullen: Tesshō Genda - Transformers Wiki From what I understand, Transformers has always been an American-created entity. During early G1, Takara contributed with the Diaclone and Microchange toys along with other toy manufacturers (some from Korea) that helped make up most of the pre-1986, but the storylines, characters, concepts and ideas that make up G1 and thus influence the rest of Transformers were created by Hasbro, Marvel Entertainment and Griffin-Bacal. It is unfortunate that during the effort to market the 2007 movie in Japan, Michael Bay, Josh Duhamel and Paramount/Toho pushed the Transformers as a Japanese-created entity.
Why would this make you MORE optimistic? I think this news effectively quashes any chance we'll indeed see an advance screening at Botcon. If June 8th is the World Premiere-- i.e., first public showing-- than why would we see it over a week earlier at Botcon? Wouldn't THAT be advertised as the "World Premiere" instead?
My misunderstanding, I'll try and make it a rule to refrain from posting until at least half an hour after I've woken up
This is the gayest thing I've ever heard, damn Takara... Why can't they just wait, that's it I wanna go to the special airings!
I`m just happy i live in Japan now, i obviously won`t be getting in to the premiere, but I will be watching ROTF 4 days before most of you, teehee!!
What does Takara have to do with this? This would be worked out between Paramount and Toho, the Japanese distributor.
1. Using the term Gay as a negative is so 2002 2. Lots of countries have early premiers of big blockbuster movies, the release date doesn't change.
I see a world premiere as the first chance the general public has a chance to see it. People have already seen it, granted they are higher up (hasbro employees, Speilberg). And there HAS to be test screenings already where some lucky ones have seen it. Maybe we get to see a cut that doesn't have 100% of the renderings done. I know some may not like that, but i love it. Seeing the steps and process' that happen to make a movie is a blast. Again, i'm just trying to be optimistic, and i stand by my statement. Randy!
Weather it comes from Japan or just a pirated copy from a fired crew member, the earlier a leaked version gets on the net, the more money they'll lose. And if a crew member doesn't do it, it will miraculously happen after the premier. Still, I'm happy for those who get to see it at its premiere.
And there will no doubt be screenings prior to it. Not to mention, I'd gladly sign a NDA to see TF2 @ BotCon Even something like the 4-segments, 20+min total that was press-screened of TF1 something like 2/3 mo before it came out. Just gimme SOMETHING TF-good for my $50 night at Paramount!
