The Dark Knight was the same way. The scenes shot with the IMAX camera are at a different aspect ratio. If you have the blueray, you will noticed the absencse of the black bars in some scenes. You will still see the same thing in both films, uless there are some IMAX exclusive footage

IMAX scenes are just ones that are filmed with an IMAX camera. They are better quality, and they are bigger and fit the entire IMAX screen. Normal releases of the movie will have these scenes, they will just be slightly less impressive, and slightly cropped. But they will remain the same quality as the rest of the movie when watching in a normal theater. You won't notice when there is an IMAX filmed scene when watching in a normal theater. It's the same movie in IMAX, just a couple of scenes are better quality.

I don't think you've got it right. The scenes with Devastator are filmed with IMAX cameras, so on an IMAX screen, they look more impressive, but they can still be shown on a regular screen, but you won't notice any difference. He's in the normal version, still.

I was hoping for another good car chase. One of my favorite scenes was the all-too-brief car chase between Barry and Bee. :(

I think it all depends on where you asked the question since there are lots of big movies for 2009. With the summer movie schedule full of big event movies each year I'm not sure how anyone could measure which one was the most anticipated.

So if you asked a Transformers fan it would be Transformers 2.

Ask the Trekkies and Trekkers it would be Star Trek.

Ask the Marvel Maniacs it would be Wolverine.

Ask the Potter Heads it would be last Harry Potter film.

GI Joe fans would say it's the Joe movie.

There is a Terminator movie out this summer, Johnny Depp and Christian Bale together in Public Enemies. Even though it didn't bust the box office Watchmen fans were crazy with anticipation over the film they said couldn't be made. Plus we haven't even gone into the comedies or the serious dramatic stuff.

Just looks like there is such a big plate of films on tap for this year covering such a range of topics that "most anticipated" seems like a marketing slogan. My anticipation is that I'm going to be spending a lot of time at the movie theater this year.

That would be a pity - Transformers is the perfect property to have a huge battle on the move with multiple mode changes along the way as part of the action. Sorta like a longer sequence of Starscream when he attacked the jets in the first film, but with TF cars instead. I was really hoping the freeway clash between Optimus and Bonecrusher in the first movie was going to be like that, but it was over before it barely got started.

Does this mean that the Devastor scenes will be exlusive to IMAX theaters only? If so, I will be super pissed.

Bay probably means 'no car chases' as the sole/core element of the action scene at hand. In a way he implies variety of action (using the potential of transformations ) with more robot interaction with the environment as well. (already highlighted in recent ILM interview)

I would agree with Bay on that because I'm getting pretty sick n tired of cliche car chases in movies.

If you want to see more cars chasing/racing or wtf ever, go see the new fast & furious or something.

I agree and you can only put so much action in this movie. Also they dont have to be as secretive

While I am a fairly big Star Trek fan, I am not an old school fan so I am looking forward to and am excited about the new Star Trek. BUT, quite a significant number of fans, particularly the old farts, consider this to not be canon, and they've been insulted by comments by Abrams that his Star Trek is not aimed at the long-time fans at all, and (like many franchise reboots such as Transformers) is aimed at the general audience. I've seen some old farts insult this as the 90210 version of Star Trek.

From my observation of the Joe forums I visit, they're split on the movie. A portion are okay with it, but not exactly EXCITED about it, the others out and out hate it. I myself question Stephen Sommers directing the movie - Bay would have been better for it, and would have kept it less "Super Hero Squad".

I think it's fair to say Revenge is (one of) the most anticipated movies of the year, given the 2007 appeared to be a "surprise success" when it was able to fend off significant competition from established franchises such as Spidey 3, Pirates 3, Shrek 3 and Harry Potter Whatever.
