Well actually, no. It's the ebay sellers or online stores who are "lucky" enough to get their hands on the lucky draws that are the people making the huge profit. As I understand it, the lucky draw toys themselves are produced by Takara in very small numbers, to be used in promotional campaigns or as prizes for competitions. So Takara isn't making lots of money on these toys, they're closer to giving them away free. That is, unless you believe the theory that more of them get made in the factories that are used in the promotional campaigns, specifically to be sold on at stupid prices. If that really happens though, it's probably the factory workers doing it unsolicited by Takara. So either way, it's not fair to accuse Takara of making these things to rip off the poor collectors. It's not really their fault that people try to sell on innocent competition prizes for hundreds or thousands of dollars, just because they're rare. But then again, if the demand wasn't there, they couldn't do it... so the people buying them are partially responsible for how much they cost.
Lucky Draw toys have an initial value of $0.00. It's only in aftermarket that they are worth anything. Takara is not gouging prices for Lucky Draws. Let's just be clear on that. An by the way, The ALL CLEAR Starscream is not an official item, it is basically a stress mold test for the mold in general. The Secret Starscream, as it is most widely accepted, is the all clear starscream that includes the red metal chest piece. It DOES come with the Takara Reissue 22 box. What is pictured in the auction is how it actually appears in the wild. Since it's all clear plastic and not paint coated, it is much more difficult to knock-off in the same manner that the gold galvatron in question is. I should know, I own the Secret Starscream :OJ
I think UC is pretty close with the seller. look at the gold on the loose one and compare it with the misb one.
So is it UC selling fake ko's or UC helping somone else sell fake kos? So does this mean UC is scamming everyone like he did to me in november?
Who is UC? All I know is this guy goldpriome must have a horseshoe up his ass. Yet another luckydraw convoy on ebay. This time its silver transformers lucky draw silver rodimus convoy misb - eBay (item 190296937027 end time Apr-01-09 18:54:17 PDT)
The gold galvy's could be test shots, the superlink LD's look legit, and as far as the starscream goes, it looks to be on par with other ones I have seen.
Also has a silver plastic that would be alot harder to fake, like MR said the superlinks look legit and the secrect starscream looks like the one Diablien and I have.
prolly testshots, but that galvy is such a bad figure, that making it an LD to begin with was just plain nuts.
It could be a test shot. If anything other than a fake, it is a test shot. Thing is, no one fucking knows. Sorry that I brought this up. Christ.
Is this real? g1 transformers gold ld masterpiece optimus prime mib - eBay (item 190296941718 end time Apr-01-09 19:26:00 PDT) How did this guy get all these? Do lucky draws come with some sort of certificate of authenticity?
... how is it worth less than retail because someone goldchromed it? I don't get that logic. retail value max, retail value minimum. then again, I've seen people do less to figures and get tons of money off them. yes, the item shouldn't be being claimed to be "authentic", but at the same time unless this is known to be a knockoff of the mold and made of subpar materials I do not understand the "oh no it's really worth less than retail" claim.
The Galvatron is probably a test shot of the lucky draw and not actually one of the prizes given away
Not surprising its a fake, whenever there is something great released there is always some scum bag looking to screw it all up.
