I agree, I don't doubt that is how it happened well I hope everyone that gets this figure is happy with it. I am not against repaints but this one is horrible IMO.
Looks more like a Jetfire or "Ratchet The Starcruiser Ambulance" than Strafe. They should have gone with an "And His Armada" repaint in either Bombshell's or Skywarp's colors, but hopefully this repaint means we'll get one of those repaints at a later date from Hasbro...
Don't get me started on Sunstorm, I STILL wanna see him made before the Classics Seeker mold turns to dust(although I'm surprised it hasn't yet).
Yeah, I don't collect G1 so the original E-Hobby and the recent Encore E-Hobby is a no go for me and the Universe one that used the Armada Thrust mold was ugly. I will probably pick up the Animated version coming out here soon, but I really really want one that uses the Classics Seeker mold. Overall, I have to say again that I really like this Strafe... it's what I was expecting anyways and I'll probably make some weird reason for him looking like Cyclonus is my little toy universe that I've got going on (don't ask... it's better for your own personal sanity). Perhaps Strafe could be another minion created by Unicron that some flaw was introduced into and he became 'corrupted'? Heh... yeah, I think I'll go with that one.
With the reversed wings in jet mode they should've repainted this into Animated Starscream. With new big-chinned head, of course.
Nah, I just don't see it. And, again, they really couldn't do a new head on this guy without retooling the design of a good chunk of the way the toy works. The head 'bunny ears' are integral to the nosecone in jet mode. Again, I still say that no matter what you do with this guy it would have looked like Cyclonus cosplaying as someone.
I agree, I don't see it either. And personally I think Cyclonus should be left out of being retoled into someone else. Cyclonus is Cyclonus and while repaints like the Strafe-Cyc one is fun he still shouldn't be repainted into pretending to be someone else (especially not someone from TF Animated *shuders*... but that's just my opinion on it).
I meant for the jet mode. Robot mode not so much. Mostly I was just trying to annoy with my suggestion. Just trying to get into the bad repaint fun of things.
I just saw these pics now for the first time. And that is exactly what ran through my mind. Well, not the clearance one. Anyways, he looks nothing like Strafe at all. And I will not be getting this one. More for those that do, though!
