Everyone's entitled to their opinions, but I think this design is great. The "goofy head" is just good old fashioned caricature - he's got personality to differentiate himself from other bots. Not everybody should look equally heroic and kickass. Contrast and diversity are good design principals. And how can you not like his bright blue visor and glowing chest light - yummy.

This is yet another, diverse, post modern take on Floro Dery's design aesthetic fused with Good Anime/Bruce Timm/Mike Mignola/Vintage 50s Disney/UPA graphic 2D stylized animation - all brought together with Wyatt's unique style. He takes design risks that no other TF show has taken. Can you imagine a better show style that can absorb and adapt every single TF show look and design (including Beast Machines & Movieverse) and blend them seamlessly into a slick, appealing and consistent look? I cannot.

    :bay

Fans rejoice - the robots in TFA are the culmination of all Transformers throughout time. IMHO of course. ;)

And if the show is over, we'll still have 3 seasons on DVD - hopefully a direct to video movie or two, a bunch of cool toys and that great new ALLSPARK ALMANAC that Jim Sorenson is putting out this summer. :thumbs2:

It's criminal that this series/toyline is ending. I can honestly say that I'm dreading whatever follows TF2. At least mt wallet will be happy. Thanks Hasbro!

Why do people have such high expectations for filler characters?

This guy is likely just going to be a guard that orbits around Magnus.
Isn't it cool that Derrick made him an obscure homage instead of just a generic design?

You mean you "couldn't care less", right? Because based on what you said, you care a significant amount - like me. ;)  (sorry, pet peeve)

I think it's really cool that this guy who grew up loving transformers is doing exactly what we ourselves would do, hell If I was doing his job animated trail breaker would be in the first show (my first transformer), I think he is by far the best art director transformers has ever had. Even the big chins and what not! he's the best thing that could have happened for us (fans)

I'm not a big fan of Animated, but having grown up with Action Masters, this is very exciting. I would probably purchase a figure of this, having avoided all other Animated figures to date.

For some reason, this looks like a Transformers Animated version of G1 "Windcharger." The look of him I guess.

He does look like Windcharger. The colors, proportions, the visor. I'm sure designers pull from many sources.

Maybe Animated Mainframe looks a bit like G1 Windcharger because G1 Mainframe looks a bit like G1 Windcharger?

Honestly before Animated, I was really only a G1 fan. Everything after that was no interest to me. I bought toys I thought were cool, attended many Botcons and have always remained a fan, but no series caught my attention like Animated. I'm sorry to see it go.
