Maybe it's because the design is based on Action Masters.

    Extremely rushed toys overall.

I think people need to stop complaining about the end of Animated till season 3 is over.

It's really starting to annoy me.

Good thing this guy is just a background/filler character then.

Amimation model is awsome, however the fact that he is a action master is NOT.

Yeah its starting to get a little tiresome especially since its all based of rumours and conjecture. Lets leave the doomsaying until we know for certain what the situation is.

You mean Trademark, which covers names, logos/symbols and terms. Copyrights apply to concepts and ideas.

(If anybody here knows IP law, please correct me where applicable).

From what I understand, you can call characters in who exist purely in fiction whatever you want so long as the character you're writing isn't really similar to another company's character or a really, really famous character from a different company's fiction (like you can't just create somebody called Batman who looks and acts like DC's Batman in your Transformers comic). Mattel has currently trademarked several variations of "Hot Rod" for toys, so Hasbro cannot make toys called "Hot Rod" (or Hot Rodimus or any other variation), but IDW are free to call the character Hot Rod in their comics.

However, if you make merchandise of these characters, you will have to give the toy a different name if somebody else already owns that trademark or there is some other legal problem. Obviously, if you make a character with the purpose of also making it into a toy, then you can either try your luck at getting a G1 name again (assuming you've failed before), or you will have to use an all-new name or a modified name from the beginning.

Mainframe is one of my favorite Action Masters. The only thing I don't like about the animation model is the eyes though. Still really cool tho

I'm not trying to argue, but why not? Despite the animated designs, the man has obvious love for the franchise. Pretenders, Action Masters, Omega Supreme, Dinobots, Constructicons, Beast Wars, Beast Machines, even Rodimus Prime?!!! Transformers Animated is undeniably the most "Transformery" media since G1.

At least he gets it. Losing him might mean getting a new show that is even less "Transformery".

It's a good clean design. I like it. I didn't realise there were people out there who are actually into Action Masters, but it's a nice idea for what I'm sure is just a background character.

There's only room for so many autobot scientist-type characters, and I doubt Mainframe will get as much screentime as Perceptor and Wheeljack. The design is similar but distinct from Perceptor.

A toy would be nice, but he's way down the list, so I'm okay if they skip him. The body type and shoulder kibble recalls Ratchet design. It may be possible to retool or kitbash a Mainframe figure out of a Cybertronian Ratchet figure(if such a figure makes it to production). Failing that, the original action master is close enough to be acceptable substitute.

So much cool stuff for season 3, cant wait.
Animated is undeniably by far the best TF series ever. Sure some will debate the artistic style chosen, I was a hater too, but I've grown to love it.
It just appeals to all audiences, and is well written.

It's a shame to loose it so soon. Is there something we can do to keep it alive for a little longer???
Maybe get us another 2 seasons after the movie fades out again?

Just when it was getting good too.
    ahh well.
