That figure was originally made for the original Universe line (you know the one full of recolors). This would have been one of the only original mold figures for the line with Megatron (tank), Grimlock, and Swoop (those two ended up in Energon instead). So the figure was likely further along in the design process. Plus we ended up getting the Voyager one instead. So you have to ask yourself if you would have rather had this toy, or the Voyager one we got.

The only thing that would impress me is if they found a way to get rid of that arm kibble on classics prime. I hate that arm kibble - it ruins a good figure.

Classics Optimus Prime is the best prime mold ever made in my opinion. This looks pretty interesting.

Well, the mold I have looks great!! The only two things missing to make it even better would have to be his stacks on his arms (which so could have been done) and HIS FREAKIN TRAILER!!!!!!!!!! Come on Hasbro, how long do I have to wait for you to get your thumb out of your @#$!!!!!

Thanks for the little piece of history. I think the deluxe looks pretty sweet. I know I'd buy one but not sure what I'd do with it since I'd want to keep the voyager one in my display for scale purposes. If they released it in a different color, like blue, that would work

I love the Voyager Prime, and I have no real problem with the deluxe from the 2-pack (so long as it's in 'bot mode anyway), yet I want this. Why is that?

    Ah. ;)

I still think the best deluxe prime for me has been the animated battle begins prime. But I love his shoulders so yeah.

They should've found a place to get this released, but they've repainted the Voyager mold so often now most of the standard (Magnus, Nemesis) repaints are done. Maybe they could do it once Universe comes back from hiatus, since there hasn't been a G1 Optimus at retail since the first Classics lineup (ignoring the reissue). And we know Hasbro loves to do "core" characters, so maybe...

Man, I really wish we gotten this one instead of the one we did get. Bah.

I'm one of those that doesn't see the big deal. I'm glad they gave Optimus the Voyager size release. It suits him.

I'm also one of those that wasn't a big fan of the deluxe Armada Prime, even though it had better poseability. It just felt...redundant. So, I tend to treat this concept the same as that one. Yeah, glad they upsized.

Well, if they ever do a Powermaster Prime... a deluxe mold would be about the right size for the unarmored Prime if he were to be released as an Ultra Class figure. Though, they'd probably just do a completely all new mold. As much as I'd love to see this released... it's probably a bit redundant at this point as many times as the Voyager mold has been released.

I would have rather had a larger Voyager, but would not have minded a Deluxe Prime since then Deluxe Galvatron would not have to look up at him so much.

I do like the look of this mold better, however I am glad that we got the voyager Classics Prime, since he is very similar in size to Megatron.

The Classics Prime behind Megatron is pretty much the Ultimate battle 2-pack or Special Edition SE-01 Optimus Prime mold.
It is possible that the new Voyager Prime was originally going to be deluxe sized according to the prototype.
