Seeing some of the work on this site has inspired me to try to kitbash. I decided why not go for broke (especially after seeing defstar's Devastator) and make a custom gestalt. My goal: Classics (sorta) Menasor. Right now I've got Classics Mirage, Classics Rodimus, Cybertron Downshift, and Cybertron Excellion to make up the limbs. They'll be painted to match the equivalent G1 Dragstrip, Breakdown, Dead End, and Wildrider. I'd like to do something as top notch as defstar's Devastator (that thing was too cool), I even have a good idea for the spare parts that'll make up parts of the legs/arms. But I need some advice from all you kitbashers, who should I get to be Motormaster? I have a Classics Ultra Magnus. He seems a little.... small for this job. Is there a truck that's bigger, but not say as big as MP-01? Help me, you're my only hope :)

Welcome to the boards...great to have you here...

Just be sure and do a lot of planning ahead of time...and as far as a Motormaster goes...maybe an Energon Optimus Prime (the fat looking one) with a fitted G1 Menasor head...

Good luck on your build... :thumb

May I suggest Using Cybertron Prime? He already has Arm Connection ports and all you would have to do is fabricate the connection port to accomidate the parts/bots you plan to connect.

After that it's just a matter of figuring out how to connect it to the legs.

Possibly just transform the legs into super mode lenght, turn them around so the toes face backwards and then find a way to have the cars connect to that flat surface.

With the toes pointed back it'll even help with Stability in Combined mode.

I plan to do something like that but i was ganna make Cyb:p rime into Classics Onslaught and make the combaiticons. (I already made Blast Off from Classics Astrotrain so it seems like a logical idea on my part.)

Good luck and I can''t wait to see what you do.

    You know what....

I drew a Classics Menasor last night. I had plans for everything. You basically matched my plans perfectly.

Well, may the best bash win! :thumb

I guess I'll be Mr. Negativity.

Your idea is ambitious but maybe too ambitious if you have never done a kitbash before. I would suggest starting small. Like, for example, you could still work up to your Menasaur, but just try to make a Dragstrip out of Mirage first and not worry about the other ones. Its a smaller project and still respectable. Then I would worry about doing the rest.

Its been my experience, the more ambitious the project, the more I start and stop on the project and before I know it, its been a year since I said I started.

I've been working on a Alternator scale Devastator for six months now and don't have much to show for other than a few parts just because I keep coming back to it.

Again, this may just be me. I wish you luck in getting your project done and look forward to seeing it.

Well i agree with everyone! and i also would like to welcome you to the boards. Now I definately agree with boggs, being youre first kit and all you might want to start with something more simple like repaints or perhaps adding a little styrene here and there. I think those would be pretty kool too but if you want to go for the actual project, and you have enough money then yea i suggest the cybertron or the energon prime. The C. Prime would be good due to the arm connections being there already and all you would have to do is develop a piece to fit youre limbs that would connect to them. Then Energon is good as well since all you would have to do is drill holes into youre limbs(excellion, downshift, etc) since he was already created as a combiner. All i would finally suggest is making the heads bigger on both or perhaps even making a whole other helmet for the E. Prime like someone already suggested. Well keep us posted on what you decide to do

thanks all again for the welcomes. i appreciate the words of wisdom, and really, i had planned on doing it all one step at a time, so if i had a hard time turning mirage into dragstrip, i'd probably give up on the rest. actually, i was probably going to do rodimus -> breakdown first, since that'd be interesting and difficult (turning red to white).

as for motormaster, i'm researching still. there are still cybertron primes in my local stores, so i can pick one of those up (on sale too), but he looks a little too big. at least, he's got some huge legs on him. energon looks like he'd be a good start, since he's a combiner. i kinda laughed when i saw pictures, cuz he looks a little plump. i also looked at the armada nemesis prime. i need to figure out how big he is, see if he might not be too bad. he's already a good color scheme.

Armada Nemesis Prime is adequate but his combiner head is hideous IMO. Now, when you say C. Prime on sale you mean Galaxy Force Prime right? cause i never saw one regular Prime around here so i had to order mine offline and it pissed me off haha it was such a hard time getting him on ebay, since when i ordered it from TRU they sent me galaxy force >>
