I have a toy model car that has a plastic clear windshield and the plastic has fogged over time. Is there anyway to make it clear again? Thanks everyone.
^^ agreed. Try using one of those fingernail polishing/buffing sticks that you can find in the cosmetics aisle at WM. You could always give it a coat of Future floor polish afterward. If you decide to use the Future polish, then position the surface to be coated as level as you can, brush on a good coat of Future (enough to smoothly cover the entire surface), and allow it to flow smoothly across the surface. Cover the item with a box or bowl (to keep dust from settling on it), and give it a day or two to dry. If it turns out totally FUBAR, you can remove the Future using ammonia. EDIT: I've used the fingernail buffing stick followed by a coat of Future polish on several model cars before with great results. However, I've never tried it on clear parts.
Thanks for the help. I'm gonna try you suggestions this week. I really have no idea why this happened. The car was stored in a box along with many other items and it is the only one that developed the foggy windshield. Thanks again fschuler and bowb4prime.
There's a plastic polish available that should do the trick. It's called Novus. Not sure where all it's sold but I know you can get it at your local Harley Davidson shop. Works great for scratches too.
you know, future can be removed by simply applying more future too. It automatically reliquifies... then you just wipe off.
Would that be akin to "hair of the dog"? A subsequent rinse with rubbing alcohol might help too, dunno.
