Submitted for your viewing pleasure is Classics Omnibot Downshift. He is made from a spare Cliffjumper, Armada Dlx Prime head, and some white paint. Its a simple bash I feel works very well as an update of this obscure character.
Nice work! I always liked the Omnibots, so it's nice to see a more modern approach to them. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the kind words, all. I used Krylon Fusion White after careful disassembly and full cleaning/sanding. I left the Prime head stock, but am open to suggestions on how to make it less Prime-like. I'd like to do the other two Omnibots, I was considering Camshaft from Cybertron Cannonball, and Downshift from the upcoming Classics 2 Prowl.
might I suggest tinting the windows? that'll help further the homage, plus you could paint that little waist piece there black too.
Not a bad idea. What paint do you use to tint windows while still allowing visibility? Is there a clear smoke paint or something? I forgot about painting his waist to be honest. Ideally I'd have also made his thighs/seats white, but Id rather not try to coat white over parts like those. Were I more talented, Id try to fashion some hidden headlights for him too.
you can get a spray can of "clear" black paint in Testors and Model Masters, or you can mix a small amount of black paint with Future Floor Finish, or you can use a lot of paint thinner with black paint. The advantage to the future method is that when its dry, its self-clear-coated. But if you're going to still clear-coat the whole thing, then you can just use one of the other methods.
Wow, I never thought an Omni-Bot could survive the '80s...but looky here. Somehow the mold works perfect.
