Wow, what a crappy pic, but my focusing skills are WIP too I guess... Nothing original, just a G1 tribute to Optimus. Head has barely been started and needs the most work yet. I really, really don't like the way the bumper came out. I had to lose that metallic blue, but I'm not happy with the grey either, still deciding what to do with that. Other than that, needs some detailing and some autobot stickers and will eventually stand with all my other Primes.
I think if you were to paint the grey bumper with metallic silver, it'd look a lot nicer. I'd also paint the upper arm (not the shoulder) either grey or silver to help further your homage and break up the long monotonous red as well.
that is a damn sweet idea there man is there any way that it would be poossible to swap out rid optimus primes entire ladder cannon with cybertron defense force red alerts missile and the missile platform piece that it slots onto basicly pitcutre rid optimus prime sporting the missile and missile platform in place of the ladder now picture your optimus prime sporting that as back mounted missile cannon that can be folded right over his right shoulder now picture him sporting the fire engine trailer armor as additional power up armor if you set the extra armor up just right he could pass for being a more moder day take on this guy http://www.tfu.info/2003/Autobot/ApexPrime/robotmode.jpg
this is just how i would do it but the fire engine parts that form the armored lower ars could be used to bulk up the jetpack while the shoulder armor could be used to bulk up the wings with the missile pods being mounted on the outside of the lower legs

I really like this one, I just wish it had more silver in the torso. This is great one, man. Any hope of better pics, maybe? I want to see more of him.
Thanks for the tips. I thought maybe the bumper being all silver would be too much, but as I really don't like the grey, it's wortha shot! And I really like your idea of grey on the arms (in between the shoulder and forearms I assume)... it would really break up all that red nicely. Unfortunately, this figure won't be transforming anymore... and no longer will he be broken down to the induvidual Prime or Magnus figures. This was the first one I ever started and I'm still learning. But he ws mostly painted in this form (i.e. Primes legs and Magnus' leg coverings were painted as seen... together) and parts removed and somewhat lost. I'm still learning (or self teaching) this kind of thing too. But I;ve done a few since this one (he keeps getting pushed back) and learned how to better do things so they could still transform etc... Yeah, I'll definately get better pics up in the near future... but i want to finish his head and probably take the advice given here and do some more work on him. Which is precisely why I posted it in unfinished form... thanks for the tips folks!
You mean, like Viagra Prime's Ultra Magnus custom. hehehe yeah heres how it could work the rid optimus prime chest armor would be set up behind omega prime but with the crotch portion of the armor being used in such a way that the trianguler portion of the crotch slides down between omega primes wings with the tab folding back between the wings and up beingd the wings with the tab locking the hole thing into place while the entire missile cannon would be set on top of omega primes right shoulder ala god jin rai
Wow, I did this custom years ago, when RID came out. My intent was to make a "Trans-tech" sort of Prime. I re-molded the magnus section to look like G1 Prime in truck mode. The "boots" became the back section of the truck, and the "gloves" were fixed onto the smaller robot BECAUSE.....THE SMALLER ROBOT TURNED INTO OPTIMUS PRIMAL! He had deluxe Beast Machines Primal's head and had a pretty clunky transformation into a gorill. Primal would ride around on the Prime truck and everything....I gotta find where I put that thing...
