Now has anyone thought about this except me but I seriously doubt Hasbro has been working on these just for the past year or so,as they knew about Bays 3 movie deal back from 2005,so I think Hasbro and Bay had worked out what the 3 movies would be like, and Hasbro knowing started designing these things back before the first movie was even release.Plus the news yesterday about Walmarts modular was being reset for this one. Also the news a few months ago about how Walmart was sponsoring this movie unlike the first movie. My point is this has been worked out atleast for 2 years more than likely.
BIPLANE!!!! Yes... unfortunately, the robot mode looks kind of awful, but I'm just ready to applaud the sentiment! Though, if it's Ransack, I have to say I would have rather seen an update of his old WWII Corsair mode. Now that's a gorgeous old warplane! zmog
Toys take about a year to design from preliminary sketches to final product anyway. The original movie figures didn't get completed until way late in the game because Hasbro didn't get all the CGI designs from ILM and company until several months before the line hit. This is why the toys in the first movie aren't particularly faithful to their on screen designs. So no, more likely than not, these are probably a little under a year old from when they were first conceived, same goes for the other ROTF toys.
w00t! I -totally- called the correct transformation of depthcharge's legs. score one for me! XD they look quite nifty, from these eyecancer-grade pics. finally, some sub-$10 TFs that I'll actually want to buy again! lol
My only thought is that I hope Ransack is a crop duster... i think that's the only real use of biplanes these days, and they're used to spread pesticide, so that would be a cool callback to his G1 Insecticon roots...
I already liked the boat because there aren't enough TF boats, so imagine how I feel about the biplane. I f*ckin' LOVE IT! QFT! So it's a double homage. I dig it more! Great toys on the scout class ... and the price should be good. May can't come soon enough. -airfox
They both look really great, so far they and Leader Prime are the only revealed ROTF toys I'll probably buy since I'm really trying to keep my non-Animated purchases to a minimum.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm tempted to pick these guys up when I see them. So much for my promise to myself to not buy any movie figs. *sigh*
Hasbro have ways of making you give them money. "What!? Robogeek says he isn't going to buy anything from the second movie toyline!? HAH! We'll see about that! Kyde, stalk him and find out what he wants! Make Robogeek realise that he cannot escape our grip!"
Look like he was right. I did some research and it appears that Depthcharge's alternate mode is a refitted and remodeled version of a Visby class Corvette of the Royal Swedish Navy. Compare the attached pics: View attachment 30451441 View attachment 30451442
I think you might have something there. But i would still be happy with more WW1 era vehicles though.
nice g2 ransack homage. Even though ransack was a spitfire. He is from that era of warplane. I've referenced him when people want the old ww1 and ww2 style planes in their collection since that's basicly all we've had. (there is also animated lugnut a ww2 style bomber who looks a lot like ransack in robot mode) Movie ransack here is a unique bi plane (ww1). I'll really have to consider troop building it if the articulation turns out enjoyable. Repaints are enevitable with basics, Hasbro must be planning something gobot like with these, perhaps the next batch of repaints for these guys turns out to be cy-kill, spoons, and zero. The only gobot I had was "water walk" I did like it though, took him everywhere as a three year old.
