Haha, well maybe someday my finger cramps will pay off. I was hoping they'd produce one for the first movie, since Paylod and Swindle/Camshaft were were game-only characters. =/ Maybe I'll hope they'll just produse Shockwave's Apache Helicopter mode instead of teh triple changer. That shouldnt give me too many figner cramps..
I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet (though I did skim some of the replies), what if Botcon DID get the rights to movie molds for next year, and are doing a movie set. We've already seen a Ramjet and Skywarp, now what could pass for Whirl. Just sayin'... Chris
I'm just sayin'.... Skywarp and Ramjet don't look like "realistic" jets that they generally want on store shelves, so either that stance changed, or they're some kind of exclusive. And the Botcon ones should be showing up soon... So far, the only teaser we have for Botcon is "...for one young Autobot..." For all we know, it's the adventures of Bumblebee between the movies. Pete has said repeatedly that they can't use the molds from the movie due to licensing reasons. However, what if they got permission to do an entire Botcon Movie set at a Botcon that's right before the movie sequel? It's pretty farfetched, but anything is possible. Chris
i can see them wanting to do that...but it would still suck and all 3 are V-class they only use 2 V-class at botcon don't they?
why not just make a new mold for evac may cost more to develop but i definitely more likely to buy a new mold than a repaint
I really doubt that for two reasons. First off, all three are Voyagers. Three "large" Transformers in one set, two of them the same mold? Possible, but it'd be unprecedented on FP's part. Secondly, Whirl here is a bit "second rate" for an homage. When you do homages FP-style, you make DARN sure the person knows exactly who they're looking at. It was only after the rather obscure "Ovelon" thing that people decided this was Whirl and not some random repaint. The colors would be spot-on Whirl and not so close of a layout to a retail release's if this were a FP exclusive. And he'd have a head remold to his G1-y self, too.
I'm liking this repaint alot...two of my faves the color Blue and Flying TFs, next to Primes of course. I hope they don't do Movie toys for the boxed set...not all the molds were that spectacular IMO. Then again, this IS year 5 for FunFub (Botcon), sorta a milestone, so who knows.
Horrifying temptation for something I shouldn't buy. Only thing that would make it worse would be Natobot announcing a one-eyed replacement head for the toy.
I like this a lot, much nicer colours to me than the original Evac to me. If we see him in the UK I will be most tempted!
Im hearing er reading alot about shockwave. In the PSP version of the movie game he wasn't a helicopter. He was a cool tank. I can't find any images though but I prefer him to a chopper. I like this mold in autobot markings anyway. Eventhough it's not really auto-ish to be a chopper.
Looks better than the first Movie Evac, but I don't know if that will be enough to make me buy him. He almost has the same shade of blue as Blackout did (tho Blackout was a bit darker). I'm still saying pass. So far, only Ramjet and Skywarp look good enough to buy as far as repaints go from ROTF.
Possible meanings of the color choice. 1) It matches the colors of the Navy Helicopters on the John C Stennis in the ROTF movie. 2) It's supposed to look like Soundwave more 3) It's supposed to look like RID's ROTOR 4) It's supposed to look like The Gobot 'Flip Top' 5) Someone at Hasbro just likes Blue Helicopters ? I hope the existance of an Evac repaint means there's a slightly increased chance of two things EVAC & Incinerator as a Legends toys and Springer as a Voyager.
Movie Whirl: "Wreck and Rule!" Actually a pretty refreshing repaint all things considered. Surprised blackout did'nt get more than a premium repaint and the evac retool anyway.
