Did anyone else pick up Serenity on Bluray? I am having a problem playing this movie on my PS3. If it even wants to start playing the movie (I often get an error code after starting the movie from the XMB), it will play fine until it gets to Chapter 13 around the 1 hour 13 minutes mark. I even got another copy and the same problem occurs. Im having no problem with any other BR discs, including newer releases such as Wall-E, Firefly, and The Dark Knight. Any other PS3/Serenity BD owners having this problem? Anyone know if there is a bad batch of discs out there, PS3s failing, or a problem with the PS3 firmware which can be causing this problem?
Yes. Its up to date. I also tried the disc on a neighbor's Blu player, and the problem didnt show up there. Really odd problem and its driving me crazy. A quick google search shows that other PS3 owners are having the problems, and others are not. The problems are very consistent, with people having about the exact same problem in Chapter 13. Either there is a bad batch of discs which dont play nicely with the PS3, or something is wrong with Sony's PS3 firmware and its not playing nicely with these discs. I'm going to check my disc on my uncle's 40 GB PS3 tomorrow, it will be interesting if it has the same problem as mine.
Even a PS3 knows crap when it has it shoved down its tray, lol. j/k. I had a DVD player that refused to play any copy of "The Man in the Iron Mask." and i once had a bookshelf stereo that wouldn't play Mariah Carey CDs. sometimes electronics are just weird
It's not just you - my PS3 is updated with the newest firmware and I'm having the exact same issue. I'm running an 80gb (the Motorstorm combo SKU from last year, with backwards compatibility). Please post your results from trying on a 40gb PS3...I'm wondering if it's an issue with specific models now...
Interesting. I tried the disc on a 40GB and it played perfectly. By browsing some other forums Ive found that this problem seems to be among random PS3s though. Some 60GBs dont have it, others do, same with the 80GB models it seems. Im clueless with what is wrong with this.
