hmmm....I am pretty much on the fence with this one. I have the comic and the episodes on 2 sets of G1 cartoon series. However, I do not have a G1 Prime in my collection. The voice-box is just an extra in my mind. If I can find a G1 Prime that is in good shape at a slightly cheaper price than $70, I would go that route. However, if I can't, I may or may not go this route and use a HTS 20% coupon.

with either of those codes, it does not help out much...with the 10% code, it would be $63 and with the newest code, it would be $60.

 

almost going to click the check out, put the codes in, hum... didn't save that much, $70 + tax + shipping is too much for the same toy reissue over and over. hard time right now, need to save up. I am going to pass this time sorry Hasbro.

Where is the cheapest place to get an Encore version of Optimus Prime?

the price is a bit too high. but i can see that its an anniversay toy and it has the most value. but why would it you want it to be lower?

 

not sure if this has been mentioned yet...but i found 3 25th primes in my local TRU...69.99 price still...down here in orange county california

 

Even though I really love this old mold (I still have my G1) I can't justify paying the full price for him. Maybe if he's in clearance..

 

I can't believe how light and faded all the paint colors are on this release. In review he almost looks pink. And the Trailor almost looks like a white in certain lighting settings. Is hasbro having problems with their paint departments at the factory or something? I will say one thing positive about the colors though, I do like the bright blue over the dark blue.

There is no way I am paying $70 bucks for what actually appears to be a Knock Off. It might be official, but it really does look like a cheap knock off. Even in some reviews they said the plastic feels cheaper and less sturdy than other versions of this toy. No voice box or comic book can make that up and justify this outrageous price for such a low quality release. And to top it all off is the usual complaint: at least put some smokestacks on it! (Not little nuggets)

its always nice to see g1 moulds in stores but the colours make him look a bit cheap, i'll be sticking to the nicer encore version.

For those knocking that version too: i cannot find any significant difference between encore prime and my japanese reissue ultra magnus cab, well aside from the colours and tyre differences, they feel as solid as each other.

 

I thought the lighter colors were to make it more "cartoony."
