uuuuh Fail. Pass on the combined mode.

 

If these photos are accurate, generic robot modes, god awful vehicle modes, and downright silly combined modes. If I weren't getting everything else in the animated line I wouldn't touch these with a ten foot pole.

 

I doubt you'll have trouble finding them regardless. They're replacing the Battle Begins set as the sole product in that "two-pack" assortment, which means basically they'll be about as easy to find as that set if you wait a bit, which essentially means they'll be everywhere soon enough. Short-packed deluxes these guys aren't.

Yeah, at this point, (unless my opinion really turns when someone reviews these guys) the Symmetrical Docking homage is the only reason I'm even considering buying these guys.

I'm still trying to reserve final judgement until I see better pics, but these are so bad that it's really really really really really really hard...

Just FYI, Symmetrical Docking means two robots combine into the right ands left halfs of a near-symmetrical robot (usually sharing retooled molds),so the combined robot mode is the symmetrical docking mode. So you mean Vehicle mode to Symmetrical Docking mode. Anyway, i've been wondering the same thing, and it would make Safeguard more of a character, and less of a bad combiner.

 

Say, what's the Gimicky on these two anyways, past the less-than-inspired combining? I've been thinking that if I remove the translucent flames on the orange one and give him a repaint, he might be worth more than a scout class price point to me.

I still think the Blue Angel decoed one is awesome looking, wish I could just by him alone and not even bother with the combining.

I think I found out how they transform in to jet mode. I'm still wondering how they combine in to Safeguard. Plus, we don't know if they will apear, in the show people.

 

These two come in a DVD pack, and the DVD will probably have the first ep. they appear in.

Plus Oil Slick is currently the only non-media Animated toy I think...and that's something else that might change too.

 

They actually come in an "Entertainment" pack, not a DVD one.

Judging from the one pic we've seen of the package, it seems to only include a comic book.

i think there awsome. everyone complains they don't have hands but if they don't have a handheld weapon, then why give them proper hands. people also complain that they look little like jets but i bet tose things on there legs fold out. i think the combined mode "safeguard" is awsome.

You gotta' love the exaggerated haters. Although, the homophobic comments are quite disturbing.

In any case, I like them. They're obviously not going to be as great as an idividual figure because of the combining aspect, which I think is pulled off decently at least for the Safeguard form. I'll agree that the combined jet form leaves me wanting. All in all, the fire and ice gimmick is neat, the "cloneness" of the individual robots is charming, the vehicle forms are passable (once they have their wings) and the symmetrical docking of Safeguard is awesome.

Furthermore, I think people getting up-in-arms about the lack of hands need to have a little bit more faith in the design team. Really? I mean, really? About official photos?
