I'm guessing it's not going to be some kind of power up thing. More than likely it'll just be armor that will let prime fly. Probably so he can attack Devastator's head.

I dunno how Scale will work, but I am SURE they will pull it off, and do it well.

However, you all need to think of this. Jetfire's alt-mode may be BIG, but it isn't BULKY. It's thin, it's skinny, it's not gonna be THAT big in Robot mode.

But I want at least an anime-style combination sequence myself. Where it shows all the armor going on with a cool background effect and awesome energetic fight music going. Ending with him making a pose and immediately taking flight and dishing it out to Devastator.

He leaps up and fires off an arsenal. The giant staggers backward. Prime then flies in, dodging Devvy's arms, brings out his blade and shoves it straight into Devastator's head, the force of his impact knocking the gestalt down.

But then how will they get psyched up?

I,for one, would find it hilarious i fthey made all of the transformers have stock transformations, or at least yell out "Turansufomu!"

edit: or a transformer that lands first in japan and picks up a bunch of cliches from Super Robot shows.

I guess it depends on how it's done in the movie. If Prime needs to combine to take out a lackey like Devastator, or get a boost into outer space, I wouldn't mind it so much. Provided he gets to kick ass all by his lonesome in the climax.

    Edit:
Is it just me, or does it seem that they are doing almost every kind of combiner. With this, devie, and the rumors of arcee being three bikes.

I'm trying to stay away from spoilers as much as possible. Can we PLEASE be more discrete about the subject headers and text on the main page? :banghead:

Whoa, let's calm ourselves a little. Whilst the vicious "fanboy" responses are sometimes a bit strong, they do bring up some good points.

I've been really open-minded about the development of the both movies, including the messy robot modes of ALL the bots. However, I agree that I would find it odd for the Prime of THIS TF universe, the rock and guiding light of the tiny Autobot cause, to merge with another sentient being, unless of course it transpires that Jetfire is older or of higher rank than Prime...otherwise it will have to be a sacrifice from Prime in order for me to accept this as anything less than a gimmick.

And before I'm criticised for sucking on the G1 lollipop too hard, I'm not against the decepticon combiners as they're a team and were designed to combine.

As for the scale issue, it does worry me but I have greater faith in the team that they'll overcome that somehow.

So basically, we're gonna have to lump it anyway, let's just try and see the bright side. Like we had to with messy 'bot modes, crappy and nonsensical, detached dialogue, and the fact that the designers never thought out the transformations well enough to present us with logical or even clear transformations!

    Sigh.

I couldn't have said it better.

I could deal with Prime combining with his trailer, but not another Transformer.

That's not what I meant, and you better have known that.

simplified: Not everything (character, gimmick, whatever) seen in toys comes straight from the movie, and not everything movie bots do is reproduced in toy form. Now, having Optimus and Jetfire combine is a pretty big deal to only be a toy feature not depicted in the film itself, but it's not impossible. There's always the off chance they don't do squat in the film together, yet people want to buy them cuz' they're kewl, and hey, they combine into a bigger robot! added value!

WOW! thats seems like overkill! with all these combiners going on i really hope that the Fallen is just a rumor. it's epic enough to have Devistator (7 vehicle combiner), alone! much less, Arcee (3 bike combiner) the twins(2 robot combiner), all the new characters like Soundwave, sideswipe, the volt etc, Megs new alt, the fallen AND JET PRIME!!!

shoooo, slow down homie. lets pace ourselves. im very excited about the possibilities but lets try and save some stuff for a third installment.

i can see Optimus combining with his trailer. i love that idea. but not Jetfire.

I understand why a lot of you are not happy with this.. Optimus Prime is the greatest character ever and he should be all to himslef but I think your all over reacting... i just hope they do stay away from the childish SUPERMODE garbage...

In my opionion Optimus will more than likely be himself for most of the film.....kick ass by himself for most of the film... i think they will combine tops 2 times...if prime needs to fly to CHINA, he will combine.. this is global now.. i really think this could be really cool....I mean for the first film all of you complained how there wasn't enough of the cartoon in the movie.. Now they add an element from the cartoons and your complaining. I guarntee BAY and company wil hanlde this corectly...it will be realistic, it will make sense, and it will not make Prime look weak! Prime will kick ass with and w/o jetfire. They are gunna be shine together...jetfire is my second FAV.

Once again if handled correctly this will work great..and I think it will be handled correctly.

with all this combining, i wonder it it will be a key theme to the movie, like they've all just figured it out or something.

You may want to start going to this version of the front page from now on, just in case: all news no movie spoilers.

Long time ago, which he has since recanted in his own thread.

I can't honestly see why are most of you people bitching about this, it's a movie... enjoy it.

I've always liked the idea of combining, and this will totally rock. But you people need to remember that THIS ISN'T G1! Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are trying to being back all aspects from all of the series, they've already given you a taste of a "G1" feel by bringing back Peter Cullen, and adding on other G1-based characters... plus they're giving us a Beast Wars slice by bringing in two beast-like characters such a Scorponok and Ravage. What's wrong with bringing back something from RID, A/E/C may I ask? Is it not "G1" enough for you? Devestator is in this movie, so can he be almost equally matched by having Jetfire combining with Optimus? Personally, it's about fucking time they finally brought this concept back.

After watching the all wimpy grease-money Animated cast of Autobots, who couldn't fight worth two craps even if their lives depended on it.... it's about time that one of the best Primes is given this ability. And look at it this way, Prime got his ass kicked in the TF1.... HE will kick major ass in TF2 and in the future movies. Besides, even if they make another Prime toy... this will give me a REAL reason to buy the figure again.
