Roberto Orci confirms that triple changers will not be coming out to play in Revenge of the Fallen.

Also covered is the possibility of more Megatron / Starscream interaction, Optimus getting a super mode, and so far, none of the guesses that Roberto is aware of are correct for Soundwave's alternate mode.

 

I wish they would come out and tell us the characters and thier altmodes, just like they did in the last one.

It would have been interesting to have a triple-changer in the movie, but there's still a chance of getting one in the third movie. More Megatron and Starscream interaction isn't surprising at all, and I would have been surprised if they hadn't at some point disscussed the possibility of Prime combining with something (either his trailer or another Autobot). Does that mean that he will do that in this movie, maybe, maybe not, we'll just have to wait and see. It's sad, most of this thread will more than likely be people overreacting thinking this is a confirmation that Prime will combine with a fellow Autobot and/or his trailer, just like the last thread with people overreacting to the comment of them at one point discussing the possibility of Megs turning into Galvatron.

NO SUPER MODES FOR OPTIMUS! I hated it in Energon and Cybertron and I hate it now. He's Optimus Prime for crying out loud. You don't see Superman putting on Batman's utility belt and driving around in the Batmobile, do you??

 

Agreed. A trailer would be cool, as either a weapons base, or just something he hooked up to haul stuff around, but no super-merging-robot-force poop.

I am glad we are not getting any triple changers. I dont know how well they would fit in the movie maybe the third one but that is a maybe. I want to know who is all in the movie and there alt modes

 

I'd prefer if if the trailer became a separate bot by itself.

Combining trailer as in Powermaster Op? I'd buy that for a dollar. No triple-changers? No worries there, keep 'em for pt.3. Big-arsed combiners? Hell yeah, x10 to the power of lots.

well yes.. it's true. it was a quick photoshop exercise... for illustration purposes only.. heheh so imagine a HUGE ass plane combining with optimus prime..... now THAT's big-bot goodness for fighting devastator and his ilk.

Mine was the one about if anyone guessed what Soundwaves alt-mode is... someone else asked about a leaked treatment where he was a military sound cannon and Orci said "you could be right". I hope so.

i thought blitzwing would be nice, and astrotrain even better, but i would prefer a combiner over a triple changer any day. a astrotrain vs jetfire fight would be cool tho.

 

I think doing a realistic version of the typical Blitzwing-style triple changer with 2 realistic earth vehicle modes would be too tall an order, but the recent Megatron design could work as a triple-changer.

I can see it working where one or more modes is a cybertronian. It could also work for something like Snapdragon, like where one alt mode is earth based and the other alt is a robotic dinosaur/beast mode. Other than that, I think they'd have great difficulty pulling it off, making it look plausible, and the toy would be probably be a disappointment. There's more leeway for this sort of thing in a cartoon.

As for the Optimus combiner thing, I'm down with a Powermaster Prime style combining trailer, but the 2 robot combiner mode idea has always been a bit gay.
