If it's important for you to have it, you can easily get it online. You'll just have to put off buying other toys first.

Interesting... I know I've seen that style before, but I never would have guessed he was a Japanese artist. I would hazard that he is considered in Japan to be a western-styled mangaka... his way of drawing action, his linework, his paneling... none of it says "manga". If anything it reminds me most of UK Transformers art.

But I REALLY like it... IDW needs to get this guy working with them. I'd love to see an ongoing series done with this flair.

Dude, they included mini-comics back in the Armada and Energon days.

What I find amusing is he and Hirofumi Ichikawa are usually TakaraTomy's go-to artists for TF artwork, and they're the two guys who are big fans of western TF fiction and art styles. As the wiki article states, Yoshioka art is inspired by Derek Yaniger's work from the G2 comic, as seen in THS G2 Convoy.

Less Heroes, more Guardian Robot! ;-)

I'm super psyched about this figure. The news that TFSource probably won't get theirs out till mid next week is driving me insane, and I'm dying for at least a nice photoshoot hehe.

The "comic" included is merely an insert with 4 pages -- the front, back and middle 2. :lol  Their pics are already included in the first post :)

I pulled up a comparison shot of a Pre-Transformers Mechabot, vs. a G1 Omega Supreme. I think the new E-hobby has a coloration all its own.

Indeed it does, it's all blue.

Thanks for that pic, what is Mechabot-1? A Diaclone figure?

I meant scans of the inside pages. That is, if you have a scanner. If not, can you try for clearer pictures of the comic? :)

Yeah, I could totally see that influence... too bad the art in the Marvel G2 series was a steep decline each issue after the first one (which looked pretty good as I recall).

It's funny, but I wonder if in Japan, TF is seen as a sort of "imported" property? I mean, sure it has it's fundamental origins in Japan, but the popularization, fiction and original animated series are all from the West. Following that logic, I wonder if Takara now takes that artistic approach because they want to portray the TF series in an "exotic" western-comic-book style?

Not quite. Mechabot-1 was released by a company named Toybox. (Back in the Eighties, Hasbro tried to get the rights to as many transforming toys as possible, not just Takara ones.)

I think it was recently revealed that Tomy had helped Toybox with developing the toy, so they had somehow ended up in possession of the mold (same as with Sky Lynx). That is why TakaraTomy were able to "reissue" those toys - or rather, release them as Transformers in Japan for the first time.

Oh yes yes yes I've read about that. I had just never seen the "original" mold of Omega Supreme before.

Now they need to reissue G1 Jetfire/Skyfire :D
