Just like her husband's prized collection which she tried to exploit for profit in his memory, these will go for maybe 10% of her asking price.

She didn't even TRY to research what they were worth. She was just hoping a few fans would be stupid enough to refinance their mortgages just to own these.

Hell, you can get original Disney animation film cels framed and AUTOGRAPHED for less than $7500.

Y'know, if this lady had set up an auction and donated a sizable percentage of the sale to a legitimate, recognizable charity, she could've gotten a lot more than $50k for that collection, and a helluvalot more for these cels than she's going to get.

And she could've even gone as far as done something in conjunction with Botcon so it could've been advertised in advance, like the Hartman Bros did.

The "Auction From Hell" is an appropriate name, because that's where she's going for trying to profit from her husband's unfortunate and untimely demise.

They are worth a lot, but not this kinda price. You might be able to sell them all together for that price.

They are easily $800-$1K each just because the character cells are prominent.

well, i certainly would never pay that for unfinished cels. that is greedy, and the price is really far out of whack. i have an original aristrocats cell my parents got me in the 80's that has all its layers, and its not worth that.

She is the lady who did that $1,000,000 auction of the complete G1 line that never sold last year.

The sale (and price) was being pushed by her boyfriend who is half her age. I get the feeling that she is the very naive type and the boyfriend who is greedy pushes this crazy prices.

Looking at the cels closely I bet the outlines are not showing because the person who owned them originally not only stapled them to the wrong background but placed the cel itself face down before doing so. Look at Sharkticon. You can see the outlines especially in his teeth.

This seller sincerely makes me sick. I remember her and her insane auction(s) all too well from a while back like some of us do. I think I'll complain with my (mostly-empty) wallet and take my meager funds elsewhere. I encourage all to do the same or send her offers under $200. *shrug* E-bay....

I saw an animation cel for Hanna Barbera's Godzilla series sell for around $60, and it was in near-perfect condition. These look as if the outlines have faded a lot, which actually hurts the value (big time) - I wouldn't pay more than $60 for these.

Really? I've been into animation for a long time, and I've never heard of such a practice. I'm not saying your statment is untrue, just that I've never come across it before. I certainly have never seen an example of it.

Any way, it's not the case with these cels. Clearly they had the lines, and they have all but faided off. Which is also wierd. Seeing as these are cels form the movie, they should have been taken well care of. There is no reason for the lines to have faided away so much.

From what I can tell by looking at the Starscream. It seems as if these cels were not stored in frames in the back of a closset as the seller clames.... they were stored in stacks with a single sheet of white paper between them. If you look along where the lines can be made out, you can see bits of paper stuck to them. There is even a huge chunk of paper that got ripped of when the sheet was removed. The lines got pulled right up with the sheet of paper. :(

The Megatron cel is a little strange too. There is painting on the outside of the cel. It's not unheard of to do so, but usually it's just effects or something. Look at his head and see the texture of the dried paint on both sides of his head, and the face. Also there is a bit of paper stuck to black painted portion at the top of his head, further supporting my theory on how these were stored.

These beautiful cels were destroyed because they were not stored properly. :(

My guess is either the outlines have faded/worn away (the line drawings are basically photocopied onto the acetate, and can easily wear off due to various circumstances) or maybe they are actually flipped over, and we're looking at the back of the cels.

They are not flipped. As a prime example, Megatrons gun (arm cannon) is on his right arm. Even without that, I've seen the movie enough times to tell that these are as seen in the film (minus the damage of course).

Also, this cel is from the same sequence (as her Starscream auction) on the Autobot shuttle when he is killing everyone using Megatron.

I've even got a line drawing.

In each one he is holding Megatron in his left hand.

It is common practice for studios to have fix-up or extra lines on an overlay cel, but I too have never heard of entire cel lines being on a separate sheet.

Again, it's fairly common practice to fix up cels - especially ones that have been completed - by painting on top of the cel. Makes them a little harder to store though :p

And even though it has been confirmed that the cels haven't been 'flipped' I just thought I'd add a bit of info. If the cel had been scanned from the back, the paint would be a lot messier, as in the picture below:

Whereas the TF cel paint, even without lines is still fairly clean and straight.
