Wow. 11 pages of wild speculation. Some REALLY wild speculation. Chances are, if (and I'm sure some will) any of these characters get toys, they won't be out until REALLY LATE 2009 or 2010. Considering that the first season aired in January and we're JUST NOW getting toys for some of the key characters (Blitzwing being the last, I think... I can't find him), if season three doesn't air until the Spring, add in the plethora of movie toys and 25th anniversary toys, and I'd say it might be a while.... I hope Hasbro is willing to support 3 lines at once, though. I don't want to see 25th/Universe suffer because of the movie and Animated.... Chris
Well considering they said something about 25th being about ALL TF series and something about TFA's 25th anniv present being "continuing", they could just release the new toys WITH 25th. Or not roflmao Let's just wwwaaaaaaaaaait and see.
I think it's been mentioned before, toyfair, botcon, sdcc, that hasbro designers & show production team worked togeather in designing these bots. The goal being that you have bots on the show that look their toy and vice-versa. The toy design people have to be involved with these characters, now in this stage of production. Otherwise, we get a repeat of Beast Machines. You get character designs, that simply can't be made into toys. I'd rather not repeat that. Kickback is right in the fact that none of these characters will see retail toy form till jan 2010 at earliest. Hasbro will probably flood the 2009 market w/movie toys again. I'd love it if they could keep animated line active during the movie line, but i doubt hasbro sees it that way. But at least here, on this site, a simple list of unfinished names has ignited a fire in us. We don't just finish the names, we come up with toy designs, plotlines, and a whole lot of imagination. That's the purpose of these threads. To discuss, to rant a little, and to enjoy the time spent.
OMG! Kickback wouldn't just SAY that unless it means something! There's a release schedule to be deciphered in his post somewhere!
Nothing "hidden" in anything. I'm not going to come out and be like "OMG GUYS I HEARD THIS THIS AND THIS!" ... but as far as we know, S250 sees animation models, meaning if work has just started on the animation side of Season 3, that all these characters appear in the first handful of episodes, which to me sounds like cannon fodder or simple background characters and nods to the fans (like the "Pretenders" that work with Meltdown). The overall idea from Animated Seasons 1 and 2 was that everyone, somehow, would get a toy. We've got a listing for a deluxe Arcee in Animated, if I remember. As well as Wasp. The only thing we're missing is Ironhide, and I'm pretty sure we'll probably get him. But Season 3 falls under a whole new ballgame. It's being produced post-movie, and Hasbro may have changed their idea on a *LOT* of things about the overall line since the movie (crazy, right?). I guess I should say "franchise" and not "line". I wouldn't be surprised if we see Bumblebee get two black lines in vehicle mode instead of one, Ratchet getting a green repaint down the road, and movie characters making cameos. Isn't Blackout on that initial list, or something to that effect? I rest my case.
I thought Megatron's initial bot mode bore influence from the movie. But it would be a mistake if they try to turn Animated into the movie. If they are smart, Animated will continue to draw selective influence from all eras of TFs, while maintaining it's own distinct identity. Anyhow, they are still behind with the season 1+2 toys months after the conclusion of the show. We've yet to see anything for Arcee, Wasp, Ironhide, Omega Supreme, 'Femscream', and the Constructicons. Never mind the 'pretenders' and various human characters. In a way, it's a shame the movie was so popular. And I hope it's sequel doesn't stand in the way of Animated characters getting toys (and instead making up off-screen movie characters to fill out that line).
Mmmm. Maybe Kickback knows something we don't about Omega? Hasbro's definitely in an interesting position with regard to their TF lines. Overall the brand seems to be doing very well. In 2009, it's quite possible Hasbro will have four major lines going on at once--TFA, 2009 movie, Universe, and 25th Anniversary--each of which could be incredibly popular by itself in the toy aisle. At what point are they competing too much with themselves? Anyway, back on topic. I am excited to read these character teases for Season 3, even if they only show up for an episode or brief cameo.
well in terms of how much attention each line gets, some lines may benefit at the expense of others. From what I heard, the Animated toys got pushed back because Walmart was demanding more Movie toys, and because in general they were selling better than anticipated. On the plus side, from Hasbro's perspective it leaves less room for gobot-like competitors.
If they do that, I swear I will take a shot gun with me on a visit to the Cartoon Network and Hasbro. j/k Seriously no one needs a Canadian accent! Haven't we Canadians been through enough torture in the stereotyping era? Now as for B********er thing, this is p***ing me off so someone please give me the correct a****ers! BWF (Beast_Wars_Fan)
What are you complaining aboot apparently every Australian speaks like steve irwin and crocadile dundee.......just ask Cybertron Jetfire. Seriously dislike the use of accents imo its like lazy Voice acting.
Nothing wrong with speculation, that's what discussion is for as others have said. Besides which, isn't there meant to be that two jetfire/jetstorm package coming out in the current line which wasn't in the show but may be in season 3? I'm very happy with the animated line, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it take a backseat to the movie and universe/25th lines next year (Hasbro hasn't got unlimited resources and they just put their prices up as everyone else is getting more and more squeezed for money which could see lower sales next year even in the face of increased popularity) but it doesn't hurt to throw ideas out for them as to what we'd like to see done with these characters who may or may not important.
Perhaps if Hasbro were a little more forthcoming with info concerning the future of animated there would be something a little more concrete to discuss but lets face it considering Animated had finished airing by SDCC and was almost done by botcon the amount of news we got concerning post season 2 was ridiculous. I mean we have been getting round about info from things like the interviews with Marty Isenberg and David Kaye but again because nothing official has been released their hands were tied as to what they could say hell I wouldnt be suprised with the way things have been handled that we get 'Official' confirmation of season 3 after the 1st few episodes have aired on YTV.......
That's why R.I.D and Animated are my favorite toylines. Their toys are nearly identical to their screen counterparts (with few exceptions).
The first series of toys had a few characters from the first few episodes of season 2, too. I don't think there'll be more than 4-5 characters from season 3 in this next batch.
Hm. Sounds like fun. Hopefully a good couple of these guys will actually see toys. Animated has been a little weird with how they've gotten their figures released (hell, like Kickback pointed out, we're just now getting f***ing Blitzwing and he has been one of the main Decepticons throughout both seasons!). Here's hoping for a good deal of these characters plus the characters from season two that haven't had a toy confirmed for them yet at some point along the lines here. I mean, does anyone else find it funny as hell that we haven't heard something yet about the Constructicons, however, we've seen Shockwave who arguably had less of a role?
Honestly guys, I think the designs for whatever toys are going to come from season 3 are done, and have been so. Companies OCCASIONALLY are able to keep things internal, and it's my belief that they have many of these ready to go, but not produced due to work on the movie line. Personally I believe if any line will suffer, it will be Universe/25th. Because that has no fiction to go with it. Being that Hasbro has decided to focus on IP's, they are probably going to support whatever has available fiction. Do you seriously see them airing season 3 and then letting there be this huge gap between that and toy release again? Kids will forget about it and sales will be lost. Universe/25th can be revisted whenever they feel like it because it CATERS TO COLLECTORS. How many 5-11 year olds want a G1 Prime? Understand how awesome Acid Storm is? Pumped their fists in celebration of a new Cyclonus? Kids come first. Their focus will be the movie, then animated, and lastly.... Universe/25th. Which sucks, but it gives my wallet a needed break.
Pretty interesting info. Too bad we have to wait so long to actually see it in action. Agree. -airfox
Bonecrusher as G1 and cute: Well, look how popular Lugnut has become! We could throw him in with the constructicons AND have him be "Movie inspired" Mix: "Hey-o, lookie here at this new recruit Megs sent us" BC: "I hate this planet." Scrapper: "Woah, no need to be surly there buddy" BC: "I ain't your buddy" Mix: "Yeah okay dere tough guy, anyway Megs wants us to get started on his weather dominator thingy,,," BC: "..." Scrapper: "Then we're gonna head down to the wharf, and get a few barrels of oil" BC: "?" Mix (threatening): "Whatsamatta, Youse don't like oil either?" (pause) BC: "I like oil"
