I'm still on the fence over Henkei! Powerglide. Do I pull the trigger or apply the funds to something else? Decisions, decisions.

Metroplex is very tempting as well for the box alone. I've already got a super nice 99% complete chrome thighed/rubber wheeled version...but it's naked without a box. Argh...

Historically, Takara spends less money on new toolings than Hasbro does. They typically spend more budget on paint, but less on new tools.

Metroplex is really tempting, but the others are a big pass. I'm happy with the US versions, at least until the next Botcon.

Paint apps are nice when they get it right, but they're certainly no dealbreaker for me.

Okay, what the heck am I missing? I see absolutely no chrome on his... oh... ha. I was looking at his lower legs. Shiny......

Of course, Megatron was a result of US laws about toy weapons looking like weapons, and Hasbro being cautious beyond the current laws (I believe). But my Henkei Megatron is on the way, so I'm full of happiness :)

I think I'm sticking to the US releases on all of these. Maybe after people start getting them and can tell us what they actually look like (ie, what shade of red paint is that really on Powerglide) I might change my mind.

Yes, I'll have the Metroflex special with a side of Sunstreaker and the Powerglide after-dinner mint. :D

HLJ says Oct: Transformers Universe Powerglide

These are full main line toys though, MP Starscream was a one off store exclusive so these should be a lot easier to find.

Wow, the chrome on those two does not work at all for me.
Powerglide looks nice though, but I will save my money and get the hasbro one.

You seem to imply that Takomy at one time updated a U.S. release figure with firing launchers and/or rubber tires.

Interesting. But when was this? I am certainly not aware of this ever happening. Closest I can think of is Armada Hotshot's light up fist. That was a cool upgrade.

On several occasions Takara actually downgraded figures by stripping electronics from them. Not to mention shrinking Cybertron Megatron. :lol

No, no, sorry, it was more of a happy dream that since they (theoretically) have been going for greater g1 accuracy here and there, they might have upgraded some of these (especially since the 1.0 Classics were already "in the can" so to speak). (or designed them with that in mind to begin with)

You must have a spear in your eye sockets, for this marvel of engineering is vastly superior to the American release we have received!
