This story did have a Kitty Genovese vibe to it. People just stood around while some got killed? I am glad I live in N.Y. because I know at least one other person on the bus would have a knife to fight back with.
The worst thing about this is that not only did noone try to help the victim but they locked the guy in the bus with him. Speaks a a lot about human nature and everyone for them self mindset.
Perhaps Captain Obvious should be renamed Captain Idiot: Huh. No one was injured. Hooray! But yeah, the passengers seem to be getting praised for locking the psycho in the bus with the victim. Go figure.
A 3 hour standoff with the cops? Why the hell didn't they shoot him when he was taunting them (RCMP) with the young mans head? My condolences to the young victims family.
They could have pepper sprayed or tasered him tho. Either way the killer is probably gonna do very little time. Our justice system here is failing us.
i would have totally tackled the guy and subdued him. citizen's arrest FTW. there is just nothing funny about that story. that is completely fucked up.
I believe this. You are one bad MoFo when you got those reflecto shades and "punish and enslave" shirt on.
So locking the killer in the bus while he stabs and decapitates a guy, while you stand outside is considered brave?
I don't think there would be anything brave about staying on the bus with that psycho. From the story, it seems like the killer had already stabbed the victim a number of times before anyone could do anything. If that's the case, then yes, it is better to leave him in there to carve up someone who is already dead, than to give him access to other victims. Also, from the way that the guy was described (robotic, wearing sunglasses), I'm going to be the first to call it. It was a Terminator sent back to kill the future leader of the resistance. We're all doomed now.
This is a ridiculous statement. The guy might have lived if someone would have stepped up and done something. I have seen people stabbed up to 30 times and live. This is what I was talking about in my earlier post(see below)
This is what I am thinking. Add to the fact that what?? A greyhound bus holds up to 40 something people? Not ONE person had the balls to try to stop the guy or do something to distract him?? I mean we've shown the capacity to stop people in these situations.
OMFG!! That is just nasty and wrong all in one. What the hell someone should've stopped him or shoot him or something. You know I hope he enjoys Hell because thats where that sicko is going and I hope he get a pineapple shove up his ass (from the movie Little Nicky). Good God!
Didn't watch the news tonight so I had no clue about this but it makes me think twice before taking Greyhound and I live in the States. My thoughts are with the young man's family in all of this and the people on the bus who had to see it go down.
reading the article and watching a brief news report, i dont think anyone knew what was happening till the murder was in progress. that and the fact it was in Canada so no one else is likely to be carrying weapons. since none of us where there we cant really say "right lets get and disarm this guy". if 911 taught anyone anything is that stupid weapons like box cutters can be terrifying if used right to scare. that same mindset would effect when this happened. i actually heard one of the guys on the bus on the interview, he described the sounds of the guy screaming/gurgling. i have heard similar things thanks to the beheading video form Iraq and that Russian solider neck slicing vid. i feel sorry for the survivors due to the fact those sounds will live on in their minds for atleast a week till the rest of their lives, and they will probably never forget it. i am also not afraid to admit i would rather leave the dead and try to protect everyone else including myself. it may seem cruel but that kids chances of survival was not great, definitely wasnt after the first 20 to 30 odd stabbings either. which is probably how many he got off as you try to clear all the women and kids out of the way atleast. only thing things i am sorry about after really reading this. the kid and his family. the passengers who will remember this for the rest of their lives, and the fact Canada has no laws that will remove this monster form this planet.
This is what I'm trying to say. You would rather leave the dead? How do you or anyone else on that bus know that the guy was dead? You don't but/they still would not try to save him. Then you state "to protect yourself" which is the everyman for themselves mentality that is so prominent in human nature. I'm sure the guy was screaming after the first couple stabs and that is plenty of time for someone to observe, orientate, decide, and act. I guess it's different for me because I have seen this stuff and have been trained for it but I still stand strong someone should have helped the guy not just let him die.
A fucking BUSFULL of people can't subdue one psycho? Christ, that's harsh on the poor sod who may or may not have been mortally wounded, but didn't need the added indignity of having his fucking head chopped off. Shit.
Even if a busfull comes after him, what if you're the unlucky guy who gets the one perfect knife to the heart/neck? Screw that...the situation wasn't a desperate 911 situation where the bus was on fire and going to be driven off a bridge or something. I'm all for kicking ass and helping people but man I don't know life is too short to start unarmed knife fights with psychos.
