They did. The only retailer interested was TRU, and then they didn't sell well enough to suit them.

You guys don't mean the commemorative series right? I thought you guys were talking about a HASBRO re-issue of the minibots.

 

I know this is an Encore release but I hope Hasbro releases some of these in the Universe series.

TakaraTomy Encore series = G1 reissues. Hasbro Commemorative Series = G1 reissues. Seems like "stuff like this" to me.

Well, there were the Fun-4-All Minibot keychains a few years ago -- BB, Brawn, CJ, and Windcharger.

 

I have the BB keychain (kind of wished I'd picked up the others now), and that's the only version of G1 BB I have. Since I never experienced the joy of G1 BB in person, can anyone tell me what the scale is between them? Is the keychain BB exactly the same size?

I really hope they eventually sell BB seperately, the new head is pure win. If not, I'll just have to pick up the set when I can afford to buy something like that for one character  

 

My Brawn keychain is the same size as my G1 Brawn, so I'd assume BB is 1:1 as well...

This set looks pretty slick. I'm sorely tempted to get this for the great BB and the rest, but the fact that I already have a gorgeous dead-mint Outback is the only thing making the decision tough... plus then the completest in me would want the TFC minibots, and there's no way I'm paying that much for minibots.

 

Well, Soundwave is proof that G1 reissues and the willing to sell them comes and goes. The question remains, though.

Yup. All the Keychains are the same molds, just with the little keyloop added to them. Keychain BB *IS* the original figure, with the old faceplate head. There's some tiny variations (the tires dont have writing on them, the plastic feels a touch cheaper, and such), but it's for all intents the same toy.

 

Very nice set! Individual bots are very distinct....TakaraTomy have outdone themselves. Will be plunking down for 2 sets since i missed out on the TFC book reissue minibots.

 

I got mine yesterday and I prefer this set to the original that I already have. This is mainly due to the fact that I prefer the 1986 resculpts to the originals. The extra details like separately colored eyes, tampoed Autobot symbols, and on some painted head/brake lights (and BB's bumper) is a really nice touch! These will look great adorned on Metroplex.

I won the minibots TFC set off e-bay for about $80 shipped about a week ago you can get it for under a $100 you just have to keep patient.

 

Bumblebee hung out with the season 3 bots in Metroplex.

He's not. Jazz, Perceptor, Blaster, the Dinobots and others appeared as well in season 3.
