Closets, my friend. And under my bed. Behind dressers.

She only saw what I had on display, or what I bought when she was with me...which was quite a lot...but you can always make a collection look smaller. I tried not to display my stuff unless I had a case for them...to avoid dust.

That actually conjures a sitcom-worthy image of you running around your apartment, trying to cram robots into hiding spots, under sofa cushions, the works! Her getting pelted with spring-loaded missiles from unseen launchers and hearing disembodied voice chip effects while you try to come up with plausible excuses... :)

But like most sitcoms, it all works out in the end...sounds like you've got a keeper, man! Right on! :)

I keep the bulk of my collection in Robot Narnia, but some of the fancier or more recent acquisitions get display spots on bookshelves or on top of the TV. My GF is pretty cool with it. She appreciates them as tactile mass-produced art pieces. Heh heh... thanks to my art school background, I can talk a pretty good game, and convince most people that Transformers are cultural artifacts. At least until they see... the room!

my wife hates them, i am banned from buying them (but always find a way), in her words 'you are a 23 year old man with 2 kids, stop playing with toys'. But on a good note she did buy me music label soundwave for my birthday

    Never.

As it was stated earlier, if you got game then it doesn't matter. I was with a girl for 15 months who, towards the end of our relationship, kept telling me she wished I'd put it aside and "grow up" a bit, which was ironic coming from someone who spent half her time talking in baby-talk to her mom or to me when she wanted something.

But for the most part, no. They've never disuaded me from sealing the deal, they've never freaked anyone out to the point that they don't want to do something. In fact, the last girl to see my collection (which I admit to not just showing anyone because it is excessive to the point that a shallow girl would freak) actually said she wanted to spend the night in the room with me and thought it was cute and wished she had something she collected.

If your Transformers hobby is preventing you from getting some of the vertical smile, you're simply misguided and fail to realize that the girl is waiting for an excuse not to jump in bed with you because of a personality flaw you fail to recognize in yourself.

If Kickback can get laid, ANY of you should be able to get laid. It's all in the charm people, all in the charm. I'm going to teach a class on how to be charming to women so those of you who lack significant amounts of the scrambled eggs between the legs can go out and experience what the rest of us do.

Sorry. All I had to watch in my hotel for two weeks was Showtime, and all they played was that stupid National Lampoon movie starring the guy from Harold and Kumar.

Brilliant! I couldn't agree more myself. Be yourself, be honest, turn on some charm, and don't settle for second best. If someone chooses to be an ass and misjudge you for a hobby then it's their bad, not yours.

On the other hand if YOU decide to be an ass and not put the plastic crack to the side and step in the real world from time to time then you seriously need to reevaluate your priorities in life. YES, you can love Transformers (I think most of us do). YES, you can love the camaraderie we all enjoy here at TFW and Botcon (hell, who doesn't?). And YES, you can love the toys and spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on them if you like (provided you take care of your other basic needs first). There’s a problem, though, when you give excessive importance to hobbies of any kind. Remember, having a life outside of the confines of Transformers will lead to the inevitable nookie!

Wow that sucks. Personally, I'd never let any girlfriend or future wife of mine's on what to collect and buy.

Hey, optimus kimchee I got almost the same story except I'm getting divorced right now and have a great 2 year old son. She had no problem with transformers though, even bought me a bunch and never got in the way of sealing any deals. I agree though, life is too short, its not worth worrying about things you can't control.
