This might be a bit of a weird topic but it's late and it sounds good in my mind. So my thing is I love the freaking toys I have honestly I'm not ashamed or anything but given that I still live with my roommates in a college/student housing complex we have parties, and I have girls over. Now I have my masterpiece megs, various reissue seekers, all animated I didn't get from HTS, and the Universe toys the rest of the stuff is in my parent's house. So what I'm asking has anyone had some chick be completely turned off at seeing a bunch of toys in your room? Or has it worked to your advantage? For me since I'm not what chicks would call a "typical"(I'm not sure what that means) nerd, they seem to find it endearing and slightly cute. So any one wanna share?

No, my personality beats 'em to the punch. :p

Seriously, though, my girlfriend's a big geek herself.

Nah, it's never kept me from sealing the deal. If it's ever kept you from it, it's probably because you lack game. In at least one case, Transformers have HELPED me.

I did have one girl that weirded out later over the toys, but I had already hit it four or five times and was ready to DTB (Dump That Bitch) anyway, so no big. Still didn't keep me from sealing and dealing.

Did you just actually use the acronym DTB on the internet? Shortly after saying "hit it?"

    Wow. Just...wow.

Unless the girl is a real ignorant type I find that they all find it interesting and different. From my experience if the girl likes your personality then they accept any hobbies and interests you have and take an interest themselves.

I find that JRX and Classics Astrotrain actually come in handy from time to time.

Actually, on reflection, a better question for everyone would be

"Has shagging girls ever kept you from going out to buy toys?"

    :lol

    Priorities people!

I met my now current wife around the same time that I started collecting toys, so she was prepared for it.

My new girlfreind digs them, my old girlfreind didn't. It never stopped anything crucial though... wink wink nudge nudge.

Basic principle: if you're spending money on toys, you're not spending it on her.

Keep the plastic crack out of your bedroom and you'll probably be better off in the nookie department.

It's never really been put to the test... I rediscovered my inner toy geek after I was already "locked in" for the long run, so she's been with me every step of the way, from those tentative first "Oh look, one of those new Transformers... I used to love those. Maybe I'll buy this one and see how far they've come." incidents, all the way up to the "Honey... I heard a rumour on the internet that Walmart has early release Universe figures! Can you pop over and scope the scene for me on your lunch break!". :)

And yes, I've still been getting sex all this time, close on 15 years now... so I figure I must be doing something right. She just bought me a SOC Brave Reideen for my birthday yesterday on impulse. She's a keeper! :)

As for you single guys... I dunno. I think the social standing and profile of "geek culture" has improved significantly in the last decade or so... it's no longer interpersonal suicide to admit you collect action figures, read comics, watch cartoons or even play RPGs. I imagine it must be much better now than it was.

Also, let's face it... if you get as far as your room, then chances are you've already made a good enough impression that a few transformers might not kill the momentum.

On the other hand... if you have a room in your house that you casually refer to as "Robot Narnia", maybe it's best to keep that away from new acquaintances at least until you can gauge their reactions. :)
