Like many, I've built a Masterpiece Seeker group consisting of Walscream, Skywarp, and the original Japanese Starscream standing in as Thundercracker. I'm thinking that Thunderscream is good enough for my display, and for once I might not be tempted to "collect 'em all". Anyone agree/disagree? I know it's a personal preference, just wondering what people think...
Takara's Starscream IS Thundercraker. Let's just wait to see how they paint Tcracker to look different from Screamer.
True enough. I'm sure it will look better as Thundercracker, and it'll probably have a unique face gimmick. But as a blue seeker, I'm thinking Thunderscream fits the bill... I guess I should qualify - I'm just not thinking it'll be an extra $100 better. Plus I'll have to find something to do with the completely random blue seeker.
we already have pics of it guys, in the news forum. he's a very pretty medium blue color, with silver torso, black gauntlets and leg ap. no pink on him anywhere.
It woul be interesting to see pictures of that Tcraker together with Takar's Screamer, but I think this isn't making a big difference yet.
The new TC is all blue. I still don't see how SS looks like TC. The 1st SS isn't all blue? just his hands and arms, which is just how the original SS was. The 1st SSs body is all a distinct Naval Grey. It looks like the Gunship grey I used in the past on my Model battleships. Anyway, this argument is almost as old as I am by now. People can do what they want.
I did the same thing, made the same sort of concession, using Takara Greenscream as Thundercracker... but with a few modifications. 1. I stripped the red and blue paint, and painted the appropriate spots silver and black, as per this photoshop: 2. I swapped the faces around. MP skywarp's crazy face went on Greenscream/Thundercracker, since it was a bright silver and matched the other silver parts. Greenscream/Thundercracker's face went on USA Starscream, since the face was appropriately dark and had the correct sneer. And the medium-grey silver face of USA Starscream went on Skywarp, who is the stoic of the three bearing a normal "face." The reason it works for me is because Thundercracker isn't EXACTLY green, he's sort of a greenish blue, especially in natural light. I've been very pleased with him. After a few paint apps, he really works, and I would have been happy with him as my TC standin just the way he is, but that's not going to stop me from getting MP Thundercracker.... I'll just come up with some other role for Greenscream when the time comes. Rainmaker re-repaint, perhaps?
just leave it as is.. there were so many generic blue seekers and its different enough from TC to qualify as you already have it modified.
It woulda been...'til they released an official version. Honestly, though, I'll buy it if for no other reason than to support the MP line in the hopes I'll see a new mold sometime in the near future, preferably an Autobot.
there was a guy selling custom thundercracker's on ebay a few weeks ago....item 220242446439 imo it looks incredible...and far superior to the takara masterpiece that's in the new pics
Well, I never got the green Screamer. I didn't like his colors and I read about so many QC issues. I like the Walmart MP Screamer better. He looks terrific with the Coronation Crown and Cape. I have the MP Skywarp so a pre-order for MP Thundercracker was a no-brainer for me. Maybe Reprolabels can come up with a set for MP Thundercracker to give him black tail fins.
Well, since MP Thundercracker's finally seeing a release, I can say that the Japanese version of Masterpiece Starscream shouldn't be a Thundercracker any more. Now it should just be a generic Seeker.
