Jonah Hill didn't sign up because he thought the script was bad?

Wild rumor? Truth? Or is Jonah Hill trying not to be typecast?

i'm glad he's not in the movie and i'm not really a fan of his but i'm thinking this story is true. i'm sure the script is terrible, just look at the first one and that's all the proof you need. there's no reason at all that it's gonna be any different for this one. in fact,it'll probably be worse this time out.

He's a crappy actor himself. I wouldn't take his word on a script any day. All his movies are less then entertaining. I don't even think he plays the fat idiot well either.

    My thoughts on the script:

Its going to almost be a carbon copy of the 1st script. I mean look at the facts on the ground. We got rid of some human actors but seemed to have added twice as much too. So therefore, there is less time for robots. Think about it, we got rid of only the techie group. Well, maybe not even that since Bay said they added a clone of the Aussies hacker to the film. So we probably haven't even gotten rid of her. I am thinking that she is there. But we also added so many new people (at least 3 medium/semi-big names) IIRC.

Eitherways, more humans and same run time means less character/plot development for the robots.

Also, they seem to be sticking with the teen-movie archetype. Its just like American Pie 2 or whichever one it was when they went off to college. This is going to be about Sam going to college and the robots are going to be secondary to that. I can see them spending aobut 30 mins of the roughly 1 1/2 hour film developing the entire college scene. Think about it, we already have the scene with Sam and his dad moving him in. Supposedly a scene with a kegger party at a fraternity. I am sure they will probably have more such scenes like that.

It will be more about how Sam puts up with having to hide a trasnforming robot while in college while still maintaining his social/academic life. THATS what this movie is going to be about, at least the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the movie.

So to all those expecting a deep plot/background of the TFs are going to be in for a letdown. The TFs will ALWAYS (at least in this continuity) take a backseat to Sam and Mikaela's characterization. And thats really sad when you consider it for a movie labeled Transformers. The good TFs are more like ET or Johnny Five or the Iron Giant or Stitch. The bad TFs are just your vanilla evil monsters/invading aliens. For a continuity with such a RICH backstory and a vast multitude of highly characterized personas, its really a shame...

I liked him in Superbad, but Superbad is much different than a summer blockbuster action flick.

I forgot this movie was called Sam Witwicky.... :rolleyes2

Sam beginning college and stuff could EASILY be knocked out in 15-20 minutes. The moving in scene could take one minute! No one knows. Since they're shooting these scenes it means their going to be in the movie, right?

    No.

    Enter: EDITING.

I guess the scripts for Superbad, Grandmas boy and Forgetting Sarah Marshall were just so much more Oscar material for him. Lets face it, he chose to not be in it because this was the one movie were he probably would not be involved in any boob or sex jokes.

Master Fwiffo and Superion33 this sort of crap is not permutable and it’s over right now.

To the people Superion33 called out I DO NOT expect to see you jumping in. For that matter any one taking up this fight will not be happy.

Any rumor of what happened when Jonah Hill read the script is just that: a rumor. Nobody was there to see what he did. And if you'll look and see how many A-list actors have done really shitty scripts, the whole "distinguished actor turned his nose up at the script" becomes even more suspect, especially given that Jonah has only been in one or two movies that have been profitable or well known.

Frankly, I'm glad he's not in it. I'd rather they cast another hot chick in his spot for me to look at.

Hum, most summer movies aren't really that big on deep scripts. Things go boom, fun is had, but telling a good story or doing something unexpected in the character department is low on the list for summer action films.

To take a guess I'd say the character was just too much of what he has played before and really wouldn't help him break out of that mold. Perhaps they got sneaky the second time around, but if it's like the first movie the characters will be railed to the archetype they represent. Don't really expect any wow I never would have expected that from a character of that type. Could happen, but likely will not.

Who cares about that brat... Jonah who??? Where did that jackass came from???Whatever, the only thing I gotta say is that if you want to get notice... YOU SHOULD STAR IN A TRANSFORMERS MOVIE!!! AT LEAST FOR VISIBILITY... That jackass is an idiot.. walking out on Micheal Bay.. shame on you Jonah Who... You are not Christopher Lee, Morgan Freeman, Marlon Brando or Shia... for what it s worth... point is.. you are a not a great actor, nobody knows you, you re probably not Oscar material and you should so get a life...

I dunno. Let's pretend the story is true and that he bailed on doing it because he either thought the script sucked and/or that he was being typecast as the 'comedically crass fat guy friend' yet again. Even if either scenario has a grain of truth to it, I'll give the kid props for bowing out of what's guaranteed to be another #1 boxoffice summer smash, regardless of how good or bad it ends up being. There's a lot of other people that would (and often do) take the job at any expense to their reputation or integrity if it means getting their name & face featured in a globally successful movie (franchise) of this size.

I'm no real fan of Jonah Hill either, but to be fair, he hasn't actually said one negative word publicly against the script or Bay when asked about what happened. It's clear that online geeks (NOT the actual media) just want some dirt dished so they have ammunition against him or Bay, depending what side they've already chosen to take without knowing what really happened.

If I recall correctly, I remember reading somewhere on the nets, that Hill decided to not participate, because he felt he wasn't ready yet, for such a big movie. The thread title makes me laugh somewhat. I mean, he's an upcoming comedian, and believe me, if you get cast for a role in such a big movie, you're not gonna say no, because you don't like the script. That is just bullcrock. Numerous actors have taken roles, even though they didn't like the script, or just because they didn't like the subject, like Anthony Hopkins with 'Alexander'. But yeah, the money pays. I would consider this story false.

Bah, it's good he isn't a part of it, I nerver liked him, and he not wanting in is no indication of how good or bad the movie will turn.
