Went to Toys R Us today in the hopes of getting another Animated Lockdown. Alas they only had a Prime left in the Deluxes, but I did find Mudflap and Inferno. Here's my proof; As you can see its the usual European packaging, with a picture of the toy instead of a Head-shot.
YES! YES! OH HELL YES! Classics Erector in the UK! He WILL be mine! EDIT ~ Inferno can stay on the shelves. I wasn't that impressed with that mold six years ago.
For Christ's sake. The only new figure my TRU has had in over a month is the Classics Universe Legends, which just arrived this week. No Animated, no Incinerator, and none of this goodness either.
Mine hasn't even had that, I don't think. Every time I go into the TRU near me it's full of those TransTech things, a million Robot Replicas, Voicechanger Helmets, FAB Frenzys and deluxe Overcasts. The fact that everyone seems to be finding all this good stuff only in TRU really bugs me 'cos they're awful at getting stock in here.
Most of our Transformers are like that now. Someone said its because the artwork normally shows the character in a pose that the toy can't actually manage, and Someone in the EU didn't agree with it, so we've got pictures instead.
Yeah, it's something to do with the laws regarding false advertising over here. It's a more extreme case of why there's no battlescene artwork anymore, or the nice battlescene photos that adorn some of the Japanese releases.
Yes you may well have, but you need to take 6 pictures, zoomed in reciept pics and god knows what else before people believe you. Otherwise your liying.... Why anyone would lie about finding a toy I have no idea.
T'was what I'd read too. It's highly moronic really as I'm pretty sure many other cartoon shows and comics that have toys have artwork of the characters leaping about in ways the toys could never hope to manage. Also, exactly how false is just showing some artwork of the TF's head? I could understand it if it was the full body poses of lines like G1, BW or Armada, but it's just heads. Some of those old G1 boxart poses are iconic. It's such a pity we're losing that stuff more and more.
maybe so, but if this is the case, how come the G1 Prowl and Skywarp reissues I bought at a UK TRU a few weeks back have character art?
Well, those have been out for a good long while. I'm guessing the new advertising rules came into effect after that but stores are still allowed to clear surplus stock. But then, like I said, other toylines have character artwork for their figures, so maybe there are rules at work that we don't yet know.
