they dont care about being true to the cartoon. they never have. scale has never, ever mattered in a main line before. so why should it matter now?

Aye. I'd rather have a cool, fun toy that's out of scale, then a giant in-scale toy I'll never touch.

one other thing I'd like to bring up, is that every kid I have ever seen try playing with a leader class or supreme sized toy (my niece and nephew, basically) has a hell of a time manipulating the thing. they have articulation, the kid wants to use it in their play, and they can't because the damn thing is so big.

it matters now cause everything else matches scalewise EXCEPT for Lugnut-Ratchet, Voyager Prime, Prowl, Leader Bulkhead, and BB are all more or less in scale with eachother (though i hear BBs a tad large, but theres still activators, i guess). and then we have Leader Megs and Blitzwing and Starscream all more or less in scale with eachother. its not exact (like Prowl's cycle being taller than Ratchet's Ambulance) but its at least in the ballpark. they ALL are close. Except for Lugnut. hes the only one grossly out of scale-Hasbro raised the bar pretty high with all the characters being close in size, but then Lugnut showed up

So? Does it really matter if the scale isn't perfect? A leader Lugnut would be cool, but if all you want him for is the size the why bother?

Agreed. While not a leader, Cyb SS was horrible when it came to playing and using the sword.

I never liked the whole class system. I wish they would get rid of the size classes and just make the toys in scale. Then their sizes(and prices for that matter) could be dependent on the character and not the price/size class.

for me its actully the size and the oh so loved P.O.K.E. ! he didnt have it on his voyager toy, which is very depressing. plus i think his legs could be done better-the entire back half of the plane is more bulky then on the show.

    you missed my point.

I know he's supposed to be big.

but big toys suck for kids for the reason I stated above.

It's a nice idea, but impossible. case assortments would be a mess, designing packaging would take much longer, assigning shelf space would be a headache, and adding more price points for retailers to manage would likely result in stores just not carrying many of them. things HAVE to be standardized.

if lugnut's size is that big of an issue, get the voyager figure, and get everyone who is supposed to be smaller than him in the activator class (basically everyone but blitzwing and bulkhead), and forget leader megatron even exists. almost perfect scale, and lots of money saved.

I think you missed the entire point of his post. Big is not a good thing when you can't even play with him. These are toys, guys. Not high-quality, uber-tastic only for display and not for play figures. They're toys. There's a lot more youy could be worrying about besides size.

His hands turn into BOMBS. BOMBS, MISSILES, WARHEADS whatev, they blow up, that's plently of P.O.K.E. for me. As for the plane mode. The plane mode is fine. There's a point where you ahve to draw they line between what's possible for real life, and what's possible for a cartoon. Next thing y'know people'll complain about the hinges on figs because they're not there on the show.

Seems to me the chances of this happening are pretty thin and these string of X figure needs a bigger toy are getting tiresome we dont need a new thread every other week about it.

Not really. Hasbro probably has test groups of children that they have come in and do surveys and stuff to determine stuff like this. Hell, surveys rock.

They sell 12" action figures for Batman, Marvel Legends, DC Superheroes and Justice League. Kids always play with bigger sizes all the time.

The thing is that Hasbro wastes the Leader and Supreme Sizes on repaints (Night Optimus Prime and Desert Brawl) and figures that don't need it (Cheetor, Starscream). They clog the pegs because the smaller sized versions are more in tune with what they wanted. It isn't the size itself, it's what they have done with it.

It is *amazing* that this thread is still going. This is, what, the 12th thread on the topic? I understand your points, but we can't get everything we want.

This argument will never go away *sigh*

Two questions: why do people still clamour for Leader class anything, even though it won't sell? And, why do people blame the toys for not being in scale with the cartoon, instead of the other way round?

Ditto here. I really, REALLY want an electronic P.O.K.E. feature with some explosion sounds. That would be easy to do on a Leader class figure. Plus, Lugnut also needs more massive upper arms and proper claws that extend outwards from his lower arms, both of which would be much easier to pull off on a Leader toy.
