Hah. This reminds me a story a guy here at work tells. I'll keep it clean enough. He walks into the bathroom, stands at the urinal, looks to his left, looks to his right and realizes that all seven men in the line up at the time have one common experience in their life. So he clears his throat and asks, "so, uh, anyone else cry a little from the burning doing this? Just trying to figure out when she got it."
So who else is excited for Slush Head in August? As long as Mattel does NA characters for this this line, I’d like Flogg and Quake to start with.
I've got not connection with the New Adventures characters... but I do always like a head on spider legs.
Is that when Slush Head is supposed to go up for preorder? Yeah, I'll definitely get him and maybe Flogg. I'd like to see Flipshot and Hydron from the Galactic Protectors or whatever they were called as well.
One of the most distinctive NA character designs ever made and he barely got to do anything in the cartoon. No respect, I tell ya. Green mutant with cyber-tentacles and a BTAS Mr. Freeze-style dome over his head for $20? Yes please. Removable head with insect legs that gives me TNBA Mr. Freeze vibes when both of them are combined? Shut up and take my money.
Didn’t know he was coming. I think he’s one of the few NA villain characters I’d buy. I’d also like to see how they handle Optik even though I have the Classics version of him. I just bought Classics Mara actually, but I’d love a Masterverse Mara that homaged the Dreamworks She-Ra version of her.
I feel like Mattel is sleeping on what a big thing Critta could be. She was essentially Harley Quinn before Harley. I wonder if maybe Kevin Smith will introduce her to fill the void of Evil-Lyn being gone.
That would be interesting. I don't know how I'd feel if they brought some of the mutants in while they're introducing The Horde, but I'd be willing to see what they do there.
I've personally always felt like the Horde, Rio Blast, and New Adventures stuff were oddly disconnected for what's supposed to be "in space". Yeah. NA was originally also meant to be in "the future" but the cartoon seemed to forget that at points and subsequent media places the events of NA pretty much present day, whatever that is. MOTU also had a loose relationship with "present day" given that Marlena Glenn was from a futuristic earth 30 years ago but Superman, the Christmas movie, and the live action movie lined up with 80s Earth. Yes, both relativity and wormholes can do weird stuff with time but virtually all sci-fi ignores that unless it's a plot point because assuming you have FTL travel, you should probably also regularly have causality paradoxes like going to a space bar where your son kills your father before he conceived you. Nobody's timelines would lineup. Everything would be in almost arbitrary sequences. Or you don't have FTL travel and stick to suspended animation or whatever but then you're regularly meeting people who die of old age between your trips. Much easier just to pretend time isn't relative.
I hit the Mattel Store yesterday, didn't grab a pic of the Masterverse area since it looked so similar, but they got in a stack of Clawful, and their stores of Dark Lyn have tripled - I predict sale within a month.
My Clawful pre-order on Amazon just moved from the middle of July to next Monday/Tuesday. I pretty much just want the new Mer-Man to finish out who I want from this line for now. I'm sure they'll add more guys I'd like to get. Like the rumored New Eternia Trap Jaw could be tempting depending on his design.
I was charged for mine. My status went "unavailable" for an hour. I saw a "preparing to ship" notification after that and now I am at mid-July.
