I’m not trying to insult you in anyway. If anything I’m just trying to understand your preference. Because you usually say I don’t like Sunbow because of these reasons. I just assumed you like the whole toy experience. Like the toy, bio and tech specs. When it’s just the toy itself and it seems like your issue with the franchises story as a whole starts with Hasbro’s choices and not Sunbow. Though Sunbow definitely simplified the looks of the bots but the character of the bots themselves is mostly tied to Hasbro choices.

Again not insulting you or telling you the way you collect is wrong. There is no wrong way and I get liking the G1 toy look. There is just something the toy has that the toon doesn’t like a sense of realism.

Lol, I’ve given up on understanding people’s collecting preferences, cuz it can get out there and convoluted and once you think you understand, then something else comes out and once again you’re scratching your head.

Oh, I know you weren’t being insulting— I actually thought your comment was amusing and just thought I’d be a smartass in reply. Sorry, I don’t convey connotation very well in text.

The problem— if one even considers it a “problem”— with the franchise story is that it simply does a poor job at adapting disparate elements of a toy line into a cohesive fiction. I only really blame Sunbow for popularizing those decisions— it’s easier to lump together the things I dislike about G1 under a collective name.

Hasbro was tasked with bringing together toys from Diaclone, Micro Change, and Mysterians lines (among others) into a weekly 20-minute Saturday-morning commercial. Those toys had different scales, styles, and intentions. The fiction that was created broke some very elementary physical laws, but it was a kids’ show designed to sell toys, so no one cared. Most kids certainly didn’t care. I did, however, and still do.

So, my preferences are only “toy” because I find the “toon” interpretation generally unappealing. My idea of a good Transformer design starts with a solid alt-mode and builds a robot from it— not the other way around. That means the Sunbow scaling chart is worthless to me. Bumblebee is what the VW Type 1 physically allows him to be. That is probably larger than what Hound’s military Jeep allows him to be— and that’s exactly how I want it.

His shoulders are sitting too low. I believe you are suppose to rotate the shoulder pieces so they align higher than the position they are currently on. Or maybe it’s the angle of the pic.
    Either way, he looks fantastic.

Also if you use the short peg on the shoulder launcher it will give you the ability to tilt it up if you want. Doing it the other way won’t let you do that.

Thanks for this. @Fenrys gave me instructions too, so I'll do this tomorrow and take some better pics. It's night here now, and my cat is in my bed with me, and she has seizures at the sound of plastic rubbing (yes, seriously) so it'll have to wait until then.

For now, sorry about the shitty pics!

The longer peg on the shoulder launcher can fold forward to reveal a shorter peg, @KJ_81 missed that in the instructions

There's two pegs I think, a long one and a short on a 90. degree swivel - the one here is using the "wrong" one. As for the head, angle?

Here's a good visual aid for why the shoulder cannon was so high. Look right next to his head and you can see the base of the longer peg, which folds forward into the gun to reveal the shorter peg.
