Grimlock breaks the color pattern of the task by not having a primary color as his chest color. And it doesn't matter why Bombshell was colored the way he was back then, that is ultimately his color scheme in the show and with the heavy show lean the line has it should have been a grey chest. It made him more unique compared to the rest of the team, especially when you consider he was treated as leader half the time. And we've already had toy colored Bombshells, it was time for a show colored one.

 

probably don't need to pop out any pins for the hips, just swap the whole assembly, take the pelvis apart, pop the mushroom peg in the thigh and swap the entire joint, screw it back together.

If you're asking if I also did a version of the bug mode's purple being replaced with grey, no I didn't.

As others have already pointed out, it's a shame that we didn't get some sort of rotating chest gimmick or dual sided torso where we could have one color or the other dependent on the mode, but I'll bet it was discussed when designing this guy. Just must not have been feasible for whatever reasons.

I don't care (or know, but I assume) if that all gray head is animation accurate or not, it looks atrocious.

Figure looks great otherwise. I wholly understand those who don't like the vehicle-bug alt-mode, but I kinda prefer it to being a straight bug.

 

Budget. Like I said earlier, people already are skeptical of Deluxe sixed Voyagers. Paying $30 for a bug so he can have a grey chest would have been no-go for the average person.
