I wouldn't be shocked if Apelinq and Primal are buddies in a flashback and then by the end of the movie Primal has the Apelinq armor.

The Maximals are ancient warriors who went in to hiding. I could totally see a scene where Primal, having finally reached his breaking point, reveals he's had Apelinq's armor as a memento of his friend and dons it to take Scourge on 1v1.

 

Man this "song" was annoying under the trailer. I legit thought someone was mumbling "Itsa go" in the background like a demented Mario. Rap isn't really singing, and not really fitting for trailer music.

 

Yeah I definitely think the music worked better in the other trailers than this one

 

I watched that trailer and took in none of it. It’s just a montage of CGI nonsense that doesn’t tell you anything.

A trailer is supposed to just be "random cool shit from the movie and maybe a few basic plotpoints"

I'm going to see this without question, but I'm glad the trailers are now over. I can't help myself from watching them all but I also don't want any of the film spoiled. Here.... we..... go..

 

Someone HAS to complain about rap music every time. They can't help themselves.

 

A truck and a monkey are going to become best friends so they can beat up a second truck and possibly a planet.

 

I don't really get posting "I don't understand anything" as a point of pride.

People think they've got a 'gotcha' when all it does is say something about them.

 

You know what would've been cool? Some color to differentiate Primal and Apelinq since they pretty much look identical except for really minor things. Maybe they could've given Apelinq the original head design they had for Primal as both a reference to his original toy design and to further differentiate him with Primal.

I'm aware next to no thought probably went into this rando Maximal who could've been called anything since he just exists to die, but it would've been something.

 

Nearly identical robots who exist only to make it easier to pad out the cast without having to design and animate a bunch of new models with the added benefit of baking in an easy reuse of an existing toy mold?

He serves the same purpose as Bee Movie's Cliffjumper. A disposable character meant to help convey the threat the villains pose by showing them killing someone who's visually similar to our hero.

He's "Apelinq" because Hasbro realized they had an opportunity to simultaneously cash-in on memberberries while pulling a name they already had a trademark for in to the more general consciousness. With the hope being that any time they do a Primal figure in the future they can turn to "Apelinq" as a potential reuse.

 

The lack of color on some of these bots is really strange. The Bumblebee movie fixed this issue. Why are we regressing in this space? You just end up with an entirely gray robot fighting another dull gray robot. These two scenes in the trailer highlight the problem perfectly. The one with Primal is worse because here even the background is gray. As for ApeLinq, they could have given him some maroon. It would have an additional benefit of helping the audience tell apart the characters.

Your comment doesn't really address the previous statement. You can still re-use the model but have a different color. The Bumblebee movie does this exact thing with the Seekers and that movie had a smaller budget than this one...

 

I cannot believe that's supposed to be a different 'bot named Apelinq, it just looks like Primal wearing some extra armor. Was it really that difficult to add a few extra shades of red or something?

 

Meh. They're barely going to be on screen together and his additional armor will be visually different enough to do the job.

Because the Bee Movie wasn't as successful as Paramount wanted so they're going back to the bigger/bolder films of the previous more successful films because they think that was what's missing. They're wrong, but hopefully this at least brings in enough so they continue to move forward with additional media centered around a beast cast.

The initial reviews being about on par with the Bee Movie stuff gives me hope that it's actually turned a corner and found the mix of big dumb action and just enough story/characterization to make the cast memorable.

 

Woohoo, Saturday tickets in 3D! Can't wait!!!

 

oh look another "final trailer" we got couple more days left, tomorrow will be the "final-final tailer" and Thursday will be the "final-final-deluxe trailer"

 

That, and market the film, draw you in, create buzz and hype. Get people talking about it.

I\'m very basic In the fact that some of the only rap I listen to is Eminem. That may change after this movie, and I\'m very excited to hear the soundtrack in theaters. I\'ve stayed away from listening to the soundtrack myself as itl be fun to discover as I watch the movie. I\'m just even more stoked

 

Something more than a colourful strobe light set to a backing track would be nice.
