Thanks man other than the Roton..I had a blast modeling it. It was a challenge to get the Sky sled angles right. The model splits down the middle for both vehicles so it should be an easy print. I may do some more alternate decos when I revisit it. Right now I’ll focus on the Ripper release.
I'm here for it man. I'll probably take your BR and scale it to Masterverse since I do own the Classics one.
I've posted the Road Ripper.. let me know if the asking cost is fine. Since this is the smallest of the models I have I set it for what I consider low. I don't plan on charging alot for any of them. I will post this on more sites over time. I don't think many will be convinced it's a full scale model until I post a pic of my assembled one. 3D file MOTU Road Ripper・3D printable model to download・Cults (cults3d.com)
And bought. One of my p1p's has about four hours left on the current print, once that's done I'll be jumping on this.
I had printed out everything except the tires(for a second time). I had some tpu I’ll try out once I get back from vacation. Eager to see your print..I assume you can do a whole half. I tried to incorporate some hooks into the connection points but feel free to snap them off if you are printing single parts.
Holy shit Edit: Origins Ripper for scale. Yeah, if all your vehicles are this scale they'll be perfect. I opted to put this on the Bambu because I didn't want to wait all night to see the results. Edit 2: I didn't expect this to go up when it did so I had my spool of appropriate green on another printer so I won't get to the chassis for another hour or so but with the speed the Bambu printers can run I should have a finished print by Monday morning.
It was bigger..I reduced it by 20%. So I have an almost classics size battle ram print of the ripper..lol. I will add more updates in the future such as a weapon and control arms(to keep figures in the frame). They will just plug into the existing. I did want to add an alternative head but we’ll see. FYI…the only part that I haven’t fully test fit was the back wheel treads. I can adjust fits if absolutely need be. edit: Looks like I'll be making a slight resize of the front spoke..and work on a few more clearances to make assembly easier. But after my own assembly it seems like the front spoke needs to be the major adjustment. Everything else seems to fit..I have to do sanding/smoothing myself b/c I use alot of supports.
Printing it in pieces I definitely had some fitment issues but I didn't glue it together since I wanted to make it easier to paint. At test assembly I noticed the the front end of both sides had lifted off the print bed leaving a gap So I decided what the hell I got the email from Cults about the updates to the file, I assume everything is the same aside from the things you mention above?
the dimensions are all the same it’s mostly an update to make hand assembly easier. But doing a whole half like that should give you the best results. My stuff occasionally lifted too..I guess because the parts are so big they reach cooler areas of the bed.
Man, I was hoping the single print would be better but I had bed adhesion issues with the full halves as well. The seat areas raised a bit and the overall body is a bit warped in spots. So I'll probably give a portioned print another chance but this time I won't load up the entire bed. Here's a few pics of where I'm at
Ok the new files should be easier for portioned print assembly. I had to use elmers glue sticks to keep my parts from warping with both PLA and PETG. I haven’t tried any parts on my Kobra with the textured surface…but I’d probably use glue there too. The back wheel looks a little too close to the guard. I had lowered it before to give clearance and it worked on my print…let me know if the hole needs more lowering. Personally I’m used to using putty to fix my gaps because I’m a miser with my spools…but I get it if you absolutely want to avoid paint. I printed my back treads in TPU on my Kobra and it did a great job(even w rattling from fast speeds). But I didn’t realize you basically can’t separate TPU supports from a TPU body…doh. I’m contemplating trimming the parts.
The wheels look off because it's just sort of leaning there, It looks like it will be fine once I glue it up. Earlier you asked if I did a print service and well, looks like I'll have two chassis I won't be needing lol.
I started doing some paint tests today. I might have to farm this out as my hands shake a whole lot more than I realized.
Oh so you finished a body? If so lets see..I'm going to start preparing to print the attak trak. I found the paint pens aren't too bad esp on a large body like the Ripper.
I haven't glued it together because I figured it would be easier to paint in smaller pieces. But when I did a test fitting the body blocks were not correctly sized so I need to reprint those. I will get one of them glued up here in the next day or so and get some pics up. And the AT is my most wanted vehicle so I'm ready for that my dude!
Okay so here's my progress on your incredible design Full body printed in two halves. I mentioned it lifted off the bed in spots and you can kind of see how it doesn't look so good in the center of the seat. Even painted black it would stick out too much for me so back to the printer I went. With this mockup I inserted a rod as a back axel to keep it all level and it rolls pretty good. For the final version I will use a smooth steel rod and some lubricant so it glide without any issues. Size comparison with the Classics Sky Sled. This was in the first bin I opened looking for a a figure to do a scale test. Size looks fantastic, no adjustments required, you nailed it. Pilot test. He fits great (his foot is off kilter because of the rubber band. You've mentioned future add ons and if control sticks are in the cards I think that would look awesome. the reject pile. And the body above will end up here as well.
All credit goes to you man! That's why I shared the thread over in the Classics thread. This needs to be seen by all the Classics collectors, your work is amazing and like I said at the start, you're filling gaps that Mattel never filled. I can not wait for the Attack Trak, I have a special red filament I selected just for that one! Back to this guy, my new print in pieces is looking good so far. Instead of loading the build plate up I've been doing one large and two small pieces at a time for better build plate adhesion. I'm probably going to reprint the parts I did in gray in a matte black for the final version as well. For the first rear wheels I used green for the inner hubs but i'm thinking a silver would look more in line with the Classics vibe. And a friend has offered his services for painting so that saves it from my shaky hands.
