SS 38 truck mode is better than the robot mode.
SS 102 robot mode is better than the truck mode.

I prefer the robot mode. And more articulation than the previous figure.
Ab crunch. Deeper elbow bend. Swivel feet.
Better proportions. Can't wait

 

Sounds like they lined this up really early in production, he wasn't much different than his BB-Movie incarnation, so they pushed him out of the main Studio Series lineup to make room for newly-tooled figures.

As the movie production progressed and the design evolved, they eventually settled on giving him the Override treatment. But his exclusivity status was already locked.

 

Don't forget that there is a mainline too, which has a voyager Prime in the first wave, plus loads of gimmick toys. There is no lack of a ROTB Optimus, they just originally didn't think that specifically an all-new mold in Studio Series was a top priority immediately.

Either way, I'm pretty excited to handle this guy but I would absolutely be up for one of those premium deco versions too, much more so than with the BB Optimus. There's just a lot of nice little details that can be picked out.

 

For SS38, if the tires is not fold in the body..

You will have a similar ab crunch like SS102.

Unfortunately not, but I wish it was.

 

I don't know if you've seen it, but @Zodiac1968340 posted this on the other ROTB Thread. The mod is done at the thigh joints and not the hip joint, but it's definitely possible:

Otherwise the mold layout image appears to be correct color wise.

I could draw up a sleeper section and maybe make it turn into a shield

Sorry to necro a thread, but I only got this guy in recently because I opted to go for Takara in case he never turned up at my local TRU.

Is there any specific way to store the axe that came with Primal on Optimus in alt mode? It doesn't seem able to take the place between the legs like the sword can store, and I can't seem to see a way to plug it into the rear of the truck anywhere, but I might be missing something.
