Indeed.. granted It's natural that the people working on the movie would want to make it sound good, can't really blame them for that. This is just early impressions that ultimately mean very little in the 'grand scheme' of things.

That would probably require them to be proper characters first, and it seems plenty of normies are fine with them all just being interchangeable CGI action figures that spout cool catchphrases while destroying each other.

The majority of these reactions are noting Mirage as a 'standout character'. It is evident that there is work being put into giving the robots more focus this time.

I feel like even if the movie turns out to be a good transformers movie with the positive points outweigh the negative, the usual suspects will keep pushing their agenda about how the live action movies are the most terrible thing on planet earth and need to die off.

Yup and it’s all because of the damage caused by Bay and Lorenzo. Clearly paramount is capable of delivering good tf movies. They just need to actually make them with care, and it seems they’ve done that with ROTB.

I'll read the summary on tfwiki afterwards. If it looks interesting I'll pick up the physical release, then I can watch it comfortably at home where I can pause, rewind, and adjust the volume all I want. No crowds, super convenient, and comparable cost to seeing it in theaters once.

90% of these reviews say Mirage is the one stealing the show, not Noah.

One of these reviewers also posted that Quantumania, an absolute garbage fire of a film, was 'phenomenal', so take from that what you will about what a film actually needs to do in order to be spoken of with such high regard by these types of people.

That's precisely my point: it can sound promising to the layman that "oh this established critic gave it a thumbs up", but then you look into their past reviews and they're seen praising total crud.

    Suddenly not so promising. :|

At least it’s better than the alternative of them all saying it’s terrible

If the film actually is terrible, then I'm not sure that's actually better. If anything, that would just make the disappointment even worse wouldn't it?

Might want to sit down. I have some news for you about the rest of the franchise.

I think it's okay to want or even expect a movie with a 200 million dollar budget to stand out from the rest of the franchise.

It is perfectly ok to expect better from the movies (I don't like them by and large). Singling out the movies as if it's a problem specific to them and just writing it off as "the normies" is rubbish however.

I guess that's fair. It's just a shame to me that the aspect of the franchise that gets the most exposure (the movies) has overall been so disappointing, and as of right now I'm not at all confident in this one.

This is so funny to me, because when Davidson was first announced to be voicing Mirage, I groaned so hard. I'm not generally a fan of his or his brand of comedy, so I was ready to hate Mirage. But every clip we've seen and every reaction paints a picture of an endearing character whose 'forced cool' persona is part of the charm. I'm now really excited to see him in the film.

Funny how new information and context can inform and change preconceived opinions!

I’m in the same boat. I didn’t like Pete and I was one of those “Porsche = Jazz” people but the character seems really fun.

If you actually read most of these, they're faint praise or clenched-teeth approvals. Statements such as "may be as good as TF1 or Bumblebee" are definitely faint praise. There's also a lot of "if you just ignore most of the film this part is nice." It's looking like all the negative buzz is right and this is going to get panned in a general sense, even if not openly by people who want more free stuff. Remember this film would need to be really good to turn the franchise around, not just acceptable. They also just delayed their next film, in a sign that lines up with the overdone marketing push when a studio knows they have a movie which needs as big a debut as it can get because they are really worried about it's legs.

They definitely are spending as much money as they can on marketing, but that money is better spent up front making a quality film that both fans and everyone else can enjoy. It's a really poorly run studio at this point, and frankly Paramount as a brand is in serious trouble.

:lolol  Also "as good as TF1"??

That movie's aged like milk, watch it again without the nostalgia goggles.
