I took a break from collecting for a few years and sold off my entire collection during that time. But recently I bought an MMC figure on a whim (Kultur) and now I am back in. I am focusing my new collection entirely around the reformatted line. I am crushed that I missed so many awesome figures (Helix in particular) but at least MMC reissues their figures so I have hope that I will be able to catch ‘em all.

This figure has too many moving parts, but I'm happy with this pose. image.png

I'm not usually someone who is into third-party TFs, but damn this MMC Turben that I recently bought (And also my first MMC figure) is one awesome-looking figure...

Congrats! I like him a lot too. I applied a white outline clear Autobot symbol to his canopy. Love the look of that. I'll try and remember to update this post with a pic.

Other than MMC (A XTB Cyclonus and recent Magic Square Prime) I don't own any other 3P figures. I was a 3P holdout until about 4 years ago when I saw MMC Drift, Wing and Deadlock. MMC figures feel "official" to me. And in many cases BETTER due to being constructed out of more durable materials. Especially considering some of Hasbro's recent efforts. I also love MMC's relatively simple and intuitive transformation schemes.

Unfortunately you have opened a Pandora's box. I was originally hesitate to pick up any IDW figures as I know nothing about them and then somehow I can't stop collecting after picking up my first one (I can't remember which one though, lol). They are so awesome and enjoy the journey down the road.

FWIW, unless there is major change of direction, the reformatted line is "ending" as no new mold will be developed for the foreseeable future. But there are more than enough for you to pick up.

Oh no! I am super bummed to hear that the reformatted line is ending. I really hope they keep reissuing them at least.

This line is so awesome that MMC even got me into the comics. It has been awesome uncovering a new dimension to the hobby after all these years.

From what we know they’re continuing reissues and repaints. There’s a Doubledealer retool of Deathsaurus up for preorder right now.

Eh, I would kinda argue that while they aren't without their QC hiccups, with the current HasTak mainline stuff when they're really good... they're really good. This Legacy Armada/Micron Legend Convoy, for example, is freakin' fantastic and in a lot of ways is superior to Fanshobby's Naval Commander for just a quarter of the price (I especially always hated how bad the proportions are the core bot mode on FH's take)

This release here is straight-up "Figure of the Year" material for me, and I doubt we would ever get an Armada/ML Convoy figure that surpasses this one from both HasTak or 3P anytime soon:

Eh in terms of looks sure depending on preference (I actually prefer FH's cause I never liked the look of Armada Prime's toy which the Legacy one goes for more over the toon model), but as actual toys NC beats Legacy in literally every other regard. Yeah the price difference is the big factor but it's also not as drastic as a quarter, but more like half or a third depending where you get either one.

Really I just haven't seen much of Hasbro's mainline as really wroth the asking price since after Kingdom compared to other 3rd Party releases I've gotten like from MMC, FH even Takara or other 3P. Omega in blue and with less paint is now $50 more than the original, Legacy Prime is potentially over $100 after tax and shipping, yet he lacks things like his mini-con, a proper base mode, or even minor paint apps like his feet or the wrong Super-Mode eye colour.

Like say yeah you get 2 toys for half the price Optus Pexus with the Humble Origins pack, but Optus Pexus would still be the better bang for your buck when comparing the two. Or Legacy Armada Megs is around 40% the price of Meg-Tyranno and with a more cartoon deco, but also with 0% of the original toy's gimmicks which Tyranno has with some extras.

I love it so much, the only good Ravages in existence are both MMC’s.

As someone who has owned versions of all of these figures (MMC Nox and O Prominon, Siege Hound and Siege Starscream), I would 100 times out of 100 pay for the MMC figure over the Hastak set.

As an aside, I've been using the Optus Prominon as a drawing reference like Jobby suggests in his review video for Pexus. This is the first sketch I did:

Absolutely terrible, but I'd say an alright first effort
