The Bayverse/Knightverse thing is still baffling to me, but whatever. I'm more than happy to let that lie and walk away. :lol

Hey man, there's nothing wrong with taking it personally. If this sort of thing genuinely bothers you, that's totally valid. I just don't feel the same way about this subject, which is why I don't think we're able to come to a complete understanding, and why you might be taking my words to be targeted and hostile when that's not my intention at all.

Though I do want to point out that I'm not a Bayverse hater, and I said as much in my post. I've got nearly the entire lineup of Studio Series (actually way more Bayverse than anything else - I've skipped a lot of SS86) and would happily buy toys of most if not all of the non-film characters you listed before. This is what I mean by you interpreting my posts in a certain way - not to mention I made a strong effort to clarify my argument in the post you quoted, which should've made it clear that I'm in no way trying to "shut down" Bay fans or discouraging others from making demands for certain characters (though I'd probably say there's no sense in "demanding" anything from Hasbro, that's a bit silly).

This has been such a fascinating thread.

Oh, well allow me to answer the question succinctly:

    "No."

I was being hyperbolic for the sake of discussion, but there is no way there is any through-line on those films beyond some characters. And TLK being the "only one" that ignored continuity is laughable. None of those movies paid a lick of attention to anything that happened in the previous film(s), TLK wasn't the first to ignore continuity.

I mean, you can like the movies all you want, they ARE entertaining in a "shut my brain off and watch the boom booms" kind of way, but they're definitely not embracing any kind of "continuity" in any way, shape or form.

I remember when it was the G1 fans fighting to be noticed. Hasbro didn't simply decide one day to start servicing G1 in exclusion of other things. They followed the money. You can say "there are other fans" but you leave out how many, what portion of the fandom they actually comprise and how much money they are willing or able to spend. I may love Beast Machines, but there's maybe 3 of us out here. The wheel is starting to turn, they are starting to give other generations some attention, but I don't know that the sales are there for them yet, at least not while they still have some more G1 to milk (though that well is starting to run dry, too).

Exactly, it's almost like a lot of these fans who feel persecuted by HasTak can't see far past their own nose, haven't been a part of this fandom for all that long and get all their information from biased sources like TFwiki and suddenly think they're experts on the history of the brand and think they know everything about the 'fandom' as a collective.

Oh yes please tell me more about how TF fans reacted to Beast Wars at the time, person who wasn't even born yet when the show was airing D:

As @Seanprime stated: a toyline that doesn't cater specifically to you isn't a 'mistake' because it appeals to people who aren't you. Also are we really gonna keep pretending that Hasbro hasn't spent approaching 20 years obsessed with these shitty movies and created A LOT of merchandise specifically for their fans, and now just because they haven't made every single CGI prop from those films and beyond into a toy that means they're now suddenly being shafted?? When they only just recently began to tap the well of Beast Wars, parts of the Unicron Trilogy and Animated.

I don't wanna say the dreaded 'e' word, but that is an impressive level of entitlement.

Is it really that hard to just be patient and wait to see if / when Hasbro will release the rest of the AOE Dinobots and so forth? And if they never get around to it they can join the rest of the fans still waiting for updates of their favorite figures / continuities, including the ding-dang Geewunners.

It keeps popular characters in rotation while extending the life of Studio Series as a whole especially during the gaps between movies. SS86 is a good thing.

There's this little thing called "context" that you should consider.

Blurr and Kup were never that popular.
Also turns out that a reissue of a $30 toy plus a chair for double price wasn't a fast seller.
Seriously, who the hell is Junkheap? Only Wreckgar had a name for years and years.
Skids, you mean that guy that's got three frames in the entire cartoon? Just because TFwiki lived and breathed the comic in 1985 doesn't mean the rest of us didn't have TVs.
Kickback, well, not a fan of Insecticons myself. I _never_ buy them. Not even in G1.

Edit: Sludge is the first leader Dinobot we can't see because of the Profit Maximizing Box. And I've never seen Ironhide in stores.

A trio that morph from a garbage truck in AOE that aren't even named in the movie itself so they may as well be called "Joe, Leaf and Randy"

Yuck. There used to be a Pat Lee cartoon out there that went "draw a big beefy robot, then decide what character it is." This is "crumple up some aluminum foil, draw a face on it, and voila, the cast of the next Bayformers movie."

It was pretty clear that he was asking about 86 Junkheap, who to my knowledge was not named on-screen either, but by all means, please use that to run with your weird melt about a live action character we weren't even discussing.

Junkheap and Wreck Gar are evidently getting a third brother next year in 86 Scrapheap (to which I ask, who the hell is Scrapheap?). Why is that trio any better or worse than these live action guys, other than the fact that you don't like them?

Does it really matter? If you are actually getting mad (not saying anyone did) that a Toy Company is making Toys of characters from another movie than just Bayverse/BBM/ROTB, and characters from a Video Game that arguably had terrible figures when they released, then that’s pretty sad on your part.

I think it was inevitable for SS to branch out. Doing so with the G1 movie seems a logical step to me, as it's still revolves around a film.

But what I'm waiting to see now is a branching into television, and namely, the Transmetals. With TM2 Megs in Legacy and TM2 Tigerhawk slated for LUNI, Hasbro have actively skipped the normal Transmetals. And given the less 'cheaty' nature of the transformations, some screen accurate figures, in both modes, could well be achievable in a SS98 line.
