I actually kind of like what I'm seeing, though I'm not sure if I'd get it yet. I already have a G2 character from this mold, idk if I want another, but at the same time I kind of like the Mirage mold so idk.

Something I didn't even realize until I looked at photos of the G2 prototype was that the Mirage mold has a completely different alt mode compared to the G1 design. Was there a reason why we've never gotten a Mirage with his correct alt mode?

 

only gripe i have with mirage is that there isnt enough neon, why'd they put the grey in?

The irony being that we now have so many deluxe car molds to chose from and the vast majority of them would probably be better placed to serve as Cyberverse Shadowstriker.

It’s Steeljaw’s best design imo. Only version I really even care about.

They are something for sure… but that’s a topic for another site so I’ll leave it at that.

Pretty much the only G1 redo’s I’m wanting are Combiners (mainly Bruticus) and maybe other Core Cassette bots. Bee I have Animated Bee coming so I’m not in huge need for a new G1 Bee and Starscream I can live with and if they ever do a Cyberverse version I can maybe just use that.

 

I saw the 2015 RID Decepticons with beast like bot modes as a Shockwave experiment to give bot modes the advantages of a beast mode, without having the actual beast mode.

Those with more bot than beast robot modes such as Steeljaw and Thunderhoof were successes, whereas those with more beast than bot modes such as Springload and Clampdown were considered failures.

That's my head-canon at least.

That, nunchucks and the headphone look. They might add in little nubs on his head like his G1 selfs ears but still would be different.

 

Jazz is about to be rocking the gamer cat headphones.  

 

They aren't really different. Animated Jazz's alt mode is just G1 Jazz but in the animated style. Since they are making figures more blocky to fit with the G1 aesthetic TFA Jazz would end up SS86 Jazz with a new headsculpt and nunchucks.

It's a classy 50s-style sports car rather than a late 70s race car. The robot mode is more or less the same robot mode in the Animated art style aside from the head, the nunchucks, and whatever car kibble is visible, but the car modes are definitely not the same thing in a different art style lol.

 

Huh, so wasn't expecting to like the new Mirage better than Toxitron.

This makes me wonder if we're going to see greys/silvers on Miami Sideswipe? Looks like there might be potential to have silver/grey on the forearms going by the box art. Interestingly enough, Mirage has a silver face which I don't think was on the box art or early sample. I think that might be what grounds a design a bit, so hopefully Sideswipe gets it too.

 

Which would be of a secondary concern as Hasbro usually prioritizes bot mode, which when we look at that the differences when run through a Legacy filter are pretty much a slimmer head sculpt.
