Just because Americans for whatever reason decided to call parrots, including Budgerigars and Cockatiels, Parakeets, doesn't make it so.

 

We don’t do that. We do call budgies parakeets, but beyond that it’s just specificity. All parakeets are parrots, but not all parrots are parakeets – folks here are more likely to call a bird a parrot than a parakeet, if they don’t know or care what it is specifically. That said, the little green guy that comes with Beachcomber sure looks like a parakeet, rather than a macaw or other genera of parrot, to me, so I see no issue with it being called a paradise parakeet.

 

This is my budgie, she looks like a Paradise Parakeet to me.
