What in the world is up with this shockwave/pax set? The heads are so bad. Even if they’re going to use these bodies why not base the colors and heads on the actual comic designs?

 

Now, this is the kinda thing I shouldn't ask, but why is the Megatron set 15$ cheaper despite it containing two Voyagers versus the Pax set's one voyager + one deluxe? Is it like the Kingdom Sideswipe set where they just didn't give a crap?

 

So there is no way to get that Megatron only?

Why did Evan say that people were speculating a different mold would have been used for Orion Pax? Which mold is he talking about? Isn't it strange we are getting two Orion Pax so close together?

I got it back in December, honestly I think we are probably better off with the SND kit over whatever repaint (probably siege galaxy upgrade prime) ends up in this capsule.

Yes, and he's in the background of the Shockwave/Pax box art. He's mostly in shadow but it's clearly drawn as a retool of the Siege Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime figure.

 

I gather someone at Amazon reversed the prices when inputting the sets.

 

I'm pre-ordering them for now, but I'm not sure I'll keep them. "Senator Shockwave" looks weird in alt-mode, and I just don't love Ratbat using the Sweeps mold, even if Ratbat has done so in the past. That said, I never did get Siege Hound, so an Orion Pax in that style is ok (though I already have the Orion that came with Alpha Trion, so it's a bit redundant...). I dunno. We'll see if I keep up my interest or cancel in the future.

 

Ok so I’ve been thinking. And after watching the stream I think it could happen. The Comic Vs Two-pack could be Marvel Soundwave VS Blaster. We know purple soundwave is presumably in this line and has to be in the two pack. So they can give Soundwave his two tapes(hoping Buzzsaw and not another Laserbeak) and they can give Blaster a clear/or non clear yellow tape. Aka Scrounge

I don't have a whole lot in the way of familiarity with the IDW comics, but these sets are interesting. Miner Megatron and Senator Ratbat especially. I really like the look of them.

Senator Shockwave is quite a surprise to me. I wasn't expecting him to look absolutely nothing like any Shockwave I've ever seen. He looks like Siege Seeker Ultra Magnus. Well, there may not be anything remotely Shockwave-y about him, but he does look cool. I could repurpose him as another character. Orion is okay I guess, but I don't need another Orion Pax figure. I'm good with the more traditional G1 version from the A Hero is Born pack. If I end up buying this 2-pack, I'll sell him.

Anyway, I can't say either of these sets are a big purchasing priority for me. They're cool, but definitely a "wait and see if they go on sale" sort of thing. I suspect they will, and if they don't, well, I can do without them.

 

Aw, man, I was really considering getting Megatron, and Ratbat looks great as well, but £70 for the two-pack is a bit steep for me. I'll see if I get lucky with the electronic bay for just Megs.

Now the Senator Shockwave and Orion Pax set? That is a must-have for me, mostly for Shockwave.
Orion Pax is... interesting? Like an amalgamation of both of his IDW2005 Cybertronian designs.

 

I love the Siege Hound mold. It has a fun transformation and is a very solid figure. And who doesn’t need a ‘bot with a futuristic Hummer as an alt mode? His accessories even had the Evo-fusion gimmick before it was a thing.  

(Although not using the ammo clip on the side of the blaster is madness, I tell you)
I liked the mold so much, I even picked up the Generations Selects Hot Shot, even though I have no attachment to that character whatsoever.
