It is really the loss of play area that the runways and walkways provide in ground battleship mode, which just aren't there in robot mode, and the fact that the ground battleship just looks so awesome, especially when we get those additional parts.
It will be interesting if there are notes in the Optional Parts A for Grand Dion about where those cannons can go in other modes. While it shows both 'back to back' on the legs in Pants Mode... I don't think there's a 'natural' way to achieve that conversion.
Still early days to conclude what we've seen so far with GRB. For all you know, we might able to reenact the vintage toy's crawler mode back then with GD and CA combined: (Apologies for lack of better pic) Tell ya guys what, my hot take for taktom CA's slow reveal is deliberate Think about it, CA (top part component) being an independent hq cruiser is a new, unseen element from GRB. People are stoked to find out what it will be: replace skybase? Revamped dia-attacker? Totally new design? It's an uncharted territory compared to vintage GRB's old leg split and standing up play feature... Compared to what we have now: two massive vehicles that can be independent unit with own unique play features that when combined, takes the role of the centerpiece of the vintage toyline. So they revealed us the combined mode but that's what we already expected out of GRB: a giant base robot. That's just a tick in the checklist of what GRB should be honestly so not to surprising. The point here is that CA's features and function as a vehicle is actually the reveal we all have been waiting for, and taktom knows that. They're drumming it up nicely to build up the momentum!
I’m personally excited to see what (potentially) new Dianaut colours we could get with the Cloud Across. I’m imagining we’ll get either one or 2 “commander” variants (like the Black Dianaut from the Grand Dion) and those will be in the (presumably) spinning command seats Are there any major colours we haven’t gotten yet as V2s?
I use the semi-metallic gold figures as the very top brass (pun is there somewhere). As far as 2.0s, I don't think we've had gold, unless I'm forgetting one.
We’ve got to be getting a gats blocker sometime soon. Those bullet cores that come supplied with GD have got proper gats blocker/alphatron mini ship vibes going on…
Looking at the visible surfaces of Cloud Across from the tradeshow, I definitely suspect that there is crossover functionality for the add-on turrets to be mounted somewhere relevant on Cloud Across. Prior to the reveal, my speculation was focused on the very obvious hinged sections of the deck expansion - I can't determine a purpose, but the interior segments feature a "flip-up" hinge that allows the "gold tooth" section at the front to flip up along the front/back axis and looks to rest at 90° vertical, perpendicular to the deck. No idea why. Is that an intended configuration? I've only seen highlight collector videos and they were timid about stressing the thigh tabs, so they only mounted the Freezon Missiles. I know that the arms were removable, but had no idea they could mount to those thigh tabs
It wasn't in the manual on any official promo image, so it can be considered a fanmode. However it's the only practical use of the arms once detatched. That said nowadays the tabs are brittle to the point that's not even advisable to connect the missiles.
Just as I was thinking we'd seen absolutely everything we could I see this. He's talking about this: I have been pouring over these pictures for days and I completely missed this detail. He has a long thread with many details and theories, well worth reading: https://twitter.com/_Jack_Hammer/status/1657698388362813440?t=SoGODe7ie4NC_fJaTIcvhg&s=19 Plus a better picture of the massive engine hanging down
An updated central command chairs rotation gimmick would be extremely cool! The shoulder dials may be something related to the vertical missiles hatches.
Surprised that none of us caught that dial feature. I do wonder what gimmick it’s gonna be connected to. I’m glad to see that Cloud Across is gonna be jam packed with features as well.
Heavy drilling machine made from Tridigger + Diaguardians bottom half Also found out you can make some nifty little field guns from Grand Dions drill tanks
RED PANTS SQUAD! ASSEMBLE!!! Just got a supply drop with a couple units of Powered Suits and some add-ons for the Red Pants, now ready to deploy on scout missions for my Ground Dion. Recruitment is still underway, with more crew members joining in the near future, but the Red Pants will have to work with what they've got in the meantime. Had a little fun with a photo of them in Photoshop.
Wait, is that metallic blue flake plastic? If so, if any of those areas are involved in spring-loaded gimmicks, they're going to fail explosively in the future. The stuff ages really badly.
