Are the 'bug eyes' from this latest "U.S." release the definitive take for a G1 toy MP display??? ... I really love Takara's toy versions of MPs, most notably Megs, but I prefer the 'normal eyes' to differentiate him from Blitzwing (is the newest 3P offering of Blitzwing any good or is it still just wait for the long-fabled FT ver.?)

Regarding the latest Blitzwing (StarToys): I got him earlier this week for about 107 euros; a good deal, but not the premium FT fans are usually looking for (I don't consider myself as such).

FT's will probably be nearly triple the price, and for that I think StarToys' is absolutely reasonable. If you're looking for a decent, affordable stand-in until FT's comes out in a few years (if ever...) I definitely recommend diving in.

If you don't like to invest in more affordable alternatives as stand-ins, then skip it; you may be too bothered by the lack of polish (although I honestly think it's not a big deal in bot mode; the lack of paint is far more noticeable in the alt modes).

My full take in the thread: STAR TOYS - ST-01 - G1 Blitzwing

Do you mean the shades? I think it was a few pages back but I asked @mrspingly about the alternative faces and you get the two faces with the two eyes but with yellow. Mine is still on its way unforuntately so can't confirm 100% but it appears like you'll be good for your double triple distinction.

    Ah splendid, thanks again!

On another note, regarding the pins needing knocking out and bits swapping on the wings, has anyone apart from yourself had this issue? I can't tell if this is every copy or just a bit of bad luck for (the US release at least).

Three (four?) people here asked for the instructions FT sent and said that they had the same problem. (Of course, it is quite minor and maybe more have it without noticing!)

It's not every copy, though, as a few others posted that theirs were okay.

I am sad now. I have scratched Thomas!

I moved his arm outwards, and the pin on the inside was sticking out enough that it scratched the beautiful wing. I have moved the Decepticon stickers lower to hide it a bit, but it's still visible and I know that it's there. I have also pushed the pin in the final 1mm.

Hmph. This is one of my favourite figures, because he's sooo pretty. I am now thinking even more seriously about buying a second copy and consigning this to train mode or selling it for a loss. I have mailed Omegalock, but it seems unlikely that FT will replace the wing.

Open him! He is a glorious and beautiful figure, and the looks easily make up for him being a bit of a brick. Just be a bit careful with him.

FansToys are like new cars: you need to get that first scratch in them so you can stop worrying about them being perfect and instead start enjoying the experience of handling them.

There's nothing that can't be fixed with floor polish.

Would a spot of T-Cut buff it out?

Really? I only mentioned it because you're in the UK and I wouldn't know international alternatives for those overseas.

They do loads of types, too. Even 'colour fast' ones, apparently.

I have some lying around as standard, just because

Well, it has a picture of a car, and the only cars I own are small and turn into robots!

    That might explain it!

It is for cars, or at least that's how it started out decades ago. I now have a little squeezy tube of the standard formula I'm my office for bots. It works just as well, you just don't go nuts with it. I can't guarantee it'll work on that particular scratch, but it'll improve it for sure. It breaks down the paint a tad and you buff that to cover the scratch.

I was originally set on getting the toy version, but the color doesn't pop like I thought it would. I think I'll wait for the reissue of the toon colors.

I was transforming mine this week, the amount of paint that's missing is just mind boggling and would cause serious heart failure for some of the guys here on the forums...
I can tell you this, those guys are definitely missing out!

Agreed. I was all-onboard for the US White version... until I saw it in the reviews. It just looks very bland and boring. Maybe a brighter, starker white paint would've helped?

I too will wait for the gray toon reissue.

Oh, I don't mind damage that been caused by play and use. My dear little NA Cosmos is flaking and loose because he's not stopped being a deskbot for 4+ years.

Many of my FT figures have wounds. Some from use and transforming, which is fine. Some with chipped paint on arrival, which is annoying but there's not much you can do. But Thomas US is a beauty, and he'd gone through dozens of transformations without a scratch. And then a scratch happened from a simple arm movement and a pin not pushed in hard enough. That makes me sad - it's the wrong kind of damage!
