I'd love to have a modern Valkyrie Jetfire that is actually functional.

For now, I'm content with the LG and the Cyber Battalion. They both kinda scratch the itch.

I know Maverick is out there but the colors and the robot is just too off-model for me. Yeah, he has the basic elements. But the original Bandai toy isn't wispy looking and that's where my brain goes.

    Doesn't this fit the bill?

Fiddly and prone to breaking apparently. I don't own it and haven't seen reviews but, matches with what I know for a few Macross things

I’m pretty sure the reasons they don’t is the design is technically owned by Bandai, which will almost certainly guarantee a factory raid.

Honestly I'd even take an improved KO of the legends/T30 mold at this point

I have see a few KO Bandai Chogokin Macross bots but they seem few and far between

It’s definitely fiddly. But, breakage shouldn’t be much of a concern as long as it is treated like an adult collectible and not like a toy. I don’t have that specific figure, but I have one of their other figures (VF-1J) that is based on the same mold….just has a different head, different paintjob and no super parts/armor. I would recommend the KC figure if it sold for $150 or less. Prices are actually dropping at some retailers…not sure how low they’ll get, though.

Jetfire frustrates me as Hasbro basically blocked Robotech from having their actual Valkyrie/Veritechs from being sold in all their variants. I loved (and still love) both Robotech and G1 TF but as a child I never understood why the Matchbox toy didn't transform and why the ones that did were so small (the Joke Machines). When I saw Jetfire as a toy I immediately recognized it as Roy's fighter in different colors.

I never saw the commercial for Jetfire and had no clue who he was (did not piece together that he and Skyfire were meant to be the same until a decade later in the 90s) but was confused to why a Veritech was sold as a Transformer.

Agreed. Though by this time I see them as two different characters in my mind.

Jetfire has had so many cool toys, (and I'm not even counting the MP which is... a lot) but I'd kill for a something closer to the valkyrie

I definitely wouldn't mind a reworked Thrilling 30 Jetfire that was made a bit more solid in robot mode and had better articulation. Bonus points if they added the Classic Jetfire's guns to the fast pack.

I own one. It looks astounding but its too damn small. It's like a beautiful punctuation mark in a collection.

Could you post a pic or two next to some other common figures for reference?

Chalk me up as another person that likes the Thrilling 30 figure - it really hit the spot between honoring both the Takatoku VF-1 and the Sunbow animation designs! (And if you're willing to use some Toyhax labels and paint, the results can be pretty darn cool :D )
