That last paragraph could be taken a few ways, depending on which words you hyperfocus on.

To me, as RazorX3000 said shortly after, he's being careful, and he also doesn't want to see things in stone. Par the course.

I could be wrong but only the movie will tell us, but it seems like similar but different, i.e. multiverse possibility or just simply the article's "Soft reboot"

    Peace y'all.

Hey, your wish came true. They straight up say it takes place before TF1 in a recent magazine (posted in another thread):

yeah I saw the other images as well. Any idea where the magazine came from? It’s also possible whoever wrote the article is just assuming things.

So Transit is officially a Terrocon, not a decepticon.
    Scorponok is in the movie.
Two other entities in the movie being kept a secret for now, most likely Unicron and Megatron (BW or regular Megatron though )

Oh God. Yeah, these films are intended to be prequels.

Lorenzo: “If you set it any time after Bay’s movies, you’re forced into one reality. It’s not easy to juggle the lore of the Bay movies, and then somehow insert this other piece of it. Eventually, if we’re lucky enough to get there, we’re going to be forced to marry them. But for the moment, we don’t have to.”

There ya have it, folks. Debate officially over.

Mr. Notta Reboot is at it again with another nothing interview. Breaking news; water is wet.

Spoiler Alert, it's not a prequel to Bayformers. Never will, take word and faith of the director, not an out of touch executive.

Honestly, I'm fine with using this as a headcanon explanation to rationalize the contradiction. Burton was right about Transformers being active throughout history, but mistaken about some specific events like BB being present in WW2. Maybe stuff like the propaganda poster and paintings were made after the Transformers' presence became public knowledge, and Burton (being a bit senile or gullible...or both) thought they were real.

Is that a bit silly? Absolutely. Was that the intent? Probably not. But to me it's a fun headcanon that adds a bit of humor to TLK, and allows for a more cohesive overall story. And it's not really non-canon, because Burton's word is all we have to go by, and he very well could be an unreliable narrator.

That explanation is honestly way less hokey and cringeworthy than saying "Padme remembered her mother through the Force". Or even having Vader be Luke's father after Ben Kenobi told Luke his father was dead, and handwaving it away with "well, it's true from a certain point of view" (which isn't even headcanon...it's a line in the movie). Star Wars is filled with stuff like this, and most fans are content to accept silly explanations that make very little sense. Half of which are just headcanon or explained in a novel/guidebook of dubious canonicity. Not really sure why we Transformers fans insist all canon has to line up perfectly, or else it's a reboot.

Was just about to post that, but yes, it's clear as cut from that magazine the movies are prequels. By creating movies that take place in the past, they can avoid the Bayverse baggage, but looks like they'll eventually have to figure out how to connect everything. It would be 100 times easier to reboot this thing, but Paramount loves to make things complicated for themselves.

I guess this pretty much rules out Megatron from appearing again since he's stuck in the ice...

This whole thing is tiring tbh. I think its best to let Steven and the rest of the cast talk about this movie instead of Lorenzo.

I still just.. don’t understand. I really don’t. It makes absolutely zero sense, lore wise, for this to be a prequel. Again, NO mention of the all spark!! At all!! And if they do more sequels set before 2007, how does that make sense? So the bots all fight Unicron (who.. isn’t earth?) before the events of 2007??? What?

I don't think they will connect them. I think this is Lorenzo goofing up as per usual.

It has been confirmed before that this is a reboot universe. But this definitely suggests the bayverse connection. I for one, certainly hope that Scourge is a corrupted bayverse knight Optimus.

I admire your coping I really do. But the director in this case works for this producer who has been there for 15 years.

That's what I'm doing. A lot of what he's saying isn't lining up with what we know of the movie from recent the test screeningss anyway.

Total films most likely. They are very reputable and article like this is obviously approved by the studio.

I guess the Bots fight Unicron and somehow shove him inside Earth to get rid of him. As for the All Spark, they'll conveniently forget about it until Optimus remembers in 2006, "oh shit, I forgot about the All Spark! We gotta go back to Earth!" None of this makes sense but here we have it: Paramount's vision for Transformers. It's lovely, isn't it.

    Well, well, well.

Vindication is at hand, and I knew this shit the moment I saw the old movie style badges on the vehicles.

Fat lady still has some time before she needs to sing so maybe things won't be as they look...but it ain't likely if this is making it into the trades.

Then where is all this information coming from, if it's making it into periodicals? Paramount's doing a terrible job

Because Lorenzo and Paramount want their dumbass Cinematic Universe.

Oh, and by the way...this probably means the Animated Cybertron film also is going to be in the Bayverse continuity! Because Lorenzo's involved with that crap, too.

It doesn't matter that none of it makes sense - that's why they didn't bother bringing back Knight, because he would have insisted on making BB its own thing (like it should have been). Lore doesn't make any sense, but has there been any case where anybody involved with these films other than BBM actually gave a shit in the slightest about the continuity? I've been saying it was going to go this way for almost two years, it's that predictable from these people!

Oh the test screenings that aren't even the whole movie? The test screenings don't even line up with each other.
