Kibble is probably a bad way to put it, I don't like that they're robot modes don't have much in the way of defining alt-mode characteristics, kibble or not. If I hadn't seen the show and someone showed me a picture of Nightshade, post scanning, and said "This is Nightshade as a protoform" I would believe it, because there is literally zero indication that they turn into an owl

 

I wouldn’t say Nightshade looks like a protoform, but I do think it’d be cool if they had more owl parts. I was joking about vaporizing you lol.

 

So that's what it was. I thought it was a raptor or something from the storyboards I saw.

Anyways, intrigued to see how they handle his movement pattern. Maybe arms slightly tricky to handle, a la Meridian?

 

Yeah it was nothing too crazy and most of what made up it has already been revealed in the show BUT there was one big thing that I saw that the show hasn't touched on and I'm excited to see how it goes.

I thought it was pretty clear that he was going to get a beast mode, but I wasn't thinking dinosaur to be honest. I was thinking Kangaroo, Bulldog, or the like. Kangaroo if he had a Grimlock style transformation with the arms becoming bipedal legs, and a Bulldog if he becomes something with heavier forearms like a Bulldog or a Gorilla.

However, that works.

 

Remember in Beast Wars, when every character scanned an alt mode automatically?

Yeah, well now it\'s Earthspark, where it takes Nightshade and Jawbreaker several episodes to get alt modes for some reason, and the triplet who got their alt mode first was named Hashtag.

I don\'t wanna agree with someone who hates nonbinary characters for no reason, but Prime is 100% better than this show.

The point of the characters taking time to find their alt modes is because they want the alt mode to be an extension of themselves, to show people who they are, to express themselves, and sometimes it takes time to do that. Plus there’s like a million other reasons that I find Earthspark to better than prime, but that’s just me

 

Having not seen the show, I thought this character was female.

 

And me. Prime had a surface-level grim tone, but then maim characters remained alive, the only frequent deaths being vehicons and even insecticons. Mandroid's got a body count we've actually seen.

 

In Beast Wars said characters had also been alive for centuries prior to the events of the cartoon. Comparing them to the Terrans who were quite literally born yesterday is a bit disingenuous.

Didn't the cast of beast wars needed to scan organic alt modes immediately so they could like, survive because prehistoric earth had overwhelming levels of Energon that could permanently damage them

 

Exactly! There's less urgency here, but it's not being picked up on.

 

No characters have died in Earthspark yet but I feel the stakes are higher because GHOST is doing some really shady shit to the cons. (And my theory for Cliffjumper’s death wasn’t to make the show darker, but because The Rock is expensive lol)
