ooooh that ramhorn is disappointing. They should have showed off this "final" design before getting past the point of no return. The crowd would have let them know that it needs more refining.

 

Hopefully these fit in DS Blaster.

 

Ramhorn looks like he was just poached on safari. I can’t even see a character there, just it’s remains.

The steeljaw is fine. But disappointed there is no paint/tampos in tape mode like the old kfc bot tapes at least had. I don’t see the point of a clean tape mode wrt rivets if it’s just plain plastic.

 

My feeling is that KFC/XTB has been getting some heat on these and the pictures we are getting right now are just prelims. I feel that when these are in full release, they will have a more finished look to them with paint apps and so on. Yeah I agree they look a little rough, but considering what is available at this scale right now, I dont see much better out there. Yes Im aware of what FT is doing, but at the price point they will likely be at, Im not willing to go down that road for something that is not significantly superior enough to warrant spending more than I am on these. Besides, I already wen all in on DS Blaster, and from what I have been able to find, the FT tapes wont fit in DS blaster, but I know for a fact that the tapes that fit in KFC Transistor do fit in DS Blaster, so there's that.

 

Yeah, a little paint should turn this whole thing around! Just squint your eyes!

 

Fitting in your Blaster is an obvious issue that my reply does not address, but I felt like it was important to make sure the info was available for those who factor it in.

I don't know what prices will be from China, but at least at US retail the price is virtually the same per tape. KFC are $35 each, FT breaks down to $36.67 each. The primary difference is KFC lets you pick which tapes you actually want while FT is forcing a 3-pack.

 

Pretty sure that both these and the FT tapes will both fit in DS Blaster. The FT (aka RP) Soundwave tapes fit in DS Blaster, but not vice versa, because RP has a smaller tape door, and therefore slightly smaller tapes. I'm guessing that FT/RP will have their tapes all the same sizes. I use the RP tapes (except Laserbeak) with my TT Soundwave.

 

Hmm, I had these two in Rollers Stash at TCP along with MP Skyfire to get free shipping, but I just gave up and had Skyfire shipped, because I sorta lost hope on the KFC tapes and preorded the FT tapes (but not FT Blaster). I didn't yet cancel my KFC preorders though... I hope they aren't as ugly as most of the recent pics. I want whichever are more cartoon accurate. Need a comparison video badly of KFC 1.0, 2.0 and Fanstoys.

Looking at the new video I tried to figure out what we were getting for the aesthetic cost of several large rivets on Ramhorns head and I'm not impressed. For example it looked like there was room for less than a mm range of motion on the neck. Might as well just make it a solid head and neck and avoid the rivet altogether with that little range.

It seems he mistransformed Steeljaw's weapons (hovering above his rear hips instead of down on them). I wonder if that is just on oversight on his part or if it affects articulation. It probably wouldn't be enough to be worth having them up like that though.

I was just thinking over what advantages these have over FT (none I valued), and when trying to double check prices I noticed they are actually higher at ShowZ ($38) then they are at TCP ($35) which means if you ignore the bundled vs individual part the cost per tape is actually higher for these at ShowZ then the US retail price on FT's tapes (FT tapes are just below $37 each at US retail, probably lower once ShowZ has their price).

 

DP Robot Store on AliExpress says these guys are in stock. Maybe they will begin shipping soon.

 

Yeah... as much as I want to like these guys, I'm sorry. I think I gotta go with the Fanstoys tapes for my DS Blaster.

 

One thing to keep in mind is we don't know for sure the FT tape size. I remember there was an issue with Acoustic Wave's tapes fitting in MP Soundwave, or was it Soundwave's tapes fitting in Acoustic Wave? Whatever it was, if you want them in his chest it would be necessary to confirm they will fit. Fortunately Rewind will be out with FT Blaster so someone should be able to confirm if it fits in DS Blaster or not before the 3-pack releases.
