I still can't believe we won't see Batgirl. If they were to decide to finally release it, I'm sure it would make shit tons of money because we ALL want to see now that we can't.
I watched this last night and I had a lot of fun. I only liked it slightly less than the first movie. The third act dragged a little bit, but the final showdown was strong. I was disappointed we didn't as much of Billy as in the first, and I especially missed his dynamic with Freddy. I'm kind of bummed that this movie, out of the recent batch of superhero movies, is the one that's becoming the internet's whipping boy.
I need to see this but the truth is I haven’t rushed out because I didn’t see this series going anywhere pre Gunn. Like the Rock refused to be part of the main Shazam movies with his weird Superman obsession. Plus they weren’t continuing the teased villain story from the first. It felt scatterbrained. I still might see it in theaters. I was busy this weekend and I’d rather see John Wick 4 first.
I really, really wanted to like this but just watched it and it was pretty lame. I didn't care for any of the antagonists, especially that Khaleesi thing at the end.
Just got out. It was fine. Had some good laughs, but everytime i saw Lucy Liu on the dragon i just pictured her mounting a giant green thing and just perched there. Never saw her on a dragon. Spoiler: Spoiler Taste the rainbow mutherfu---
What was he doing? Shazam was actually a well received film. Refusing to allow any connection to that film was a huge blunder. Why on Earth did WB agree to that? Probably a good thing those whole DCEU is getting flushed and restarted.
I thought it was a fine middle of the road super-hero film, apart from a few parts that were just in bad taste. The idea of the gods being unhappy with a bunch of children using their powers is a sound idea for the plot, and while Zachary Levi plays Captain Marvel (I refuse to call him Shazam) as more childish than his teenage form of Billy Batson, which is annoying, he is generally entertaining so I can live with it. The Wonder Woman cameo was nice and plot-relevant, and I enjoyed seeing the actor who played Billy Batson in the 70s get a cameo.
I wonder how much this practice hurts theaters. I personally think a lot. Why go to the show when you can just wait a couple months to stream it?
Ouch. Yeah, FOTG isn't doing very well. DOMESTIC (45.2%) $45,947,417 INTERNATIONAL (54.8%) $55,800,000 WORLDWIDE $101,747,417 Shazam! Fury of the Gods - Box Office Mojo
SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS Arrives On Digital TOMORROW; Blu-ray Release Date And Special Features Revealed
“Despite lacking so much of what made Shazam! great, there’s plenty of fun to be had with Shazam! Fury of the Gods” I’m curious what was missing. I thought it was just as fun as the first one. The fun is what made me enjoy the first one.
Watched this last night and boy was it disappointing. Too many stories and most were predictable. Eventually I had to fast forward through some of the Freddy and girlfriend scenes because where that plot was headed was terribly predictable. It was also poorly written IMHO. I felt like I was watching a CW show. The only time I couldn't see where it was going was when the writers just pulled the solution out of their a**. The lair doors in particular were super convenient on more then one occasion. Or when Darla tamed the unicorns with Skittles...because reason. Admittedly "Taste the rainbow motherfu-" was hysterical. I was also confused by the villains powers. So there was a giant dome over the city but villains could come and go whenever they wanted? But no one else. But then Steve was able to write a note and it could fly out of the dome and to the villains somehow. And at the end Lucy Lui couldn't. Poor Helen Mirren. I hope she bought a nice house with the paycheck.
I too saw this the other day and I knew going in it wasn't going to be great, and boy was I right. So many plot holes, mediocre acting, and just overall boring for a super hero film. But again, not a surprise since it's no different than the first film and more of the same.
I hope they keep him around he'd do great in a JLI styled Justice League movie. Keep Zack as Shazam, pick a Batman, Bring back Brosnand as Dr Fate, find a good Booster and Beetle, find a good actor for Martain Manhunter (keep the Oreo obsession) add in Guy Gardner then just mix in whoever else you want. I could see James Gunn doing great movies with this version of the League. Also just for fun the first Captain Marvel movie.
