Fresh out of box and without even handling I observed two stress marks, one of which is on the anterior left elbow bend. Irks the crap out of me.

Anyway....

Was initially hating on this figure because of the aforementioned, plus I decided to transform it without following the instructions too closely, which is why I came to this thread to see what I might have missed. Glad I did. I missed the lion abdomen rotation step gave me a visible Prime head in lion mode, I had the back lion legs backwards which had the lion mode sitting at a weird angle, and I didn't know about the extra weapon storage storage in the back lion panel which also carries over to lion mode thereby all weapons are now concealed in lion mode. So, yeah, this thread helped my appreciation quite a bit. Some nice action poses earlier in the thread too.

That said...

Color on this really pops, good contrast between the red and white. Really like the heroic bot proportions. Not a fan of the arm kibble. I think that could have been done better, and would have preferred something more akin to the BW2 figure so the "wolverine" claws don't feel so off center. It's just a bit too bulky for arm kibble nowadays. Despite the lion face being a common complaint, it oddly really doesn't bug me. The lion really isn't poseable, which I guess is ok given the lion proportions are actually pretty good.

He's good. Really wish I didn't have that one elbow stress mark though. Also, now having seen the MP version, which I never really paid attention to before, I see why people are really enjoying this alternative.

 

Yes. It is hands down the best Lio Convoy figure that exists. I love the original, robot masters, and MP figures, but this is great in both modes, and everything locks together in both modes extremely well, with no weird gaps in the lion body.

I still need to work on removing a little bit of ink on his face.

 

Good Work. But slightly overdone IMHO.

 

I do like this. But if I may offer some constructive critique, it does appear slightly overdone, especially with what looks like the running mascara around the eyes. I would reduce that slightly. Additionally, the red hinge is even more visible now against the lion mane. Otherwise I respect this effort and I think it looks really good.

I do tend to overdo it at first often. Haha.
Though I'm not sure if the red hinge bothers me too much, as bot bits poking out of the Beast Mode is unavoidable, anyway.
But for sure I'll try to wind it back a bit when I get the chance later today!

 

Well I tried to remove some of the excess ink.

The lines under his eyes are molded in, so the ink in there would take more effort to remove. But they don't bother me too much.

Hmm, doesn't really look all that different from before though, does it. . .?


Leo, is that your robot mode's head, or are you happy to see us?

 

I picked Leo up yesterday and I like how old school he feels. He kinda gives me the same vibe as Earthrise Doubledealer. All the places you can peg the blasters and all the little flip out features and arrangement options. By replicating the features of the original Leo they've given him a toyetic quality we just don't see in TFs much anymore.

 

What a fantastic toy! Great sculpt, sharp paint apps, and a fun transformation.

Snipping those Goofy fangs and giving him his much deserved corpse paint does wonders! Would definitely recommend this to everyone.
